Crushdepth
The emergency decree can only work if the army permit the police to remove the remaining protesters. They wont They can't. There is no socially acceptable way to force a couple of hundred thousand members of the public off the streets if they don't want to go. This 'state of emergency' is just wanking. pitrevie
A naval coup. Would that be a first? The Russian battleship Potemkin is an interesting precedent for the Russian revolution so who knows maybe we are going to see HTMS Chakri sailing along the Chaophraya. If only G & S were alive today I am sure they would produce a wonderful operetta from all of this.

Popular Post jaidam
Have to admit I'm really gonna miss this government when they finally get the boot. From Chalerm's "Goo gap ma laeow" and his 60 days to (not) fix every problem, to jailbird Prompong's asinine announcements, to Nopphadol's ridiculous denials that serve to confirm every disgraceful rumor, to a imbecile PM that only shops, mirror gazes and has perjury laws scubbed from the law books, the rice scheme which has been a train wreck from the start. It has been a fantastic show, unrivaled by any satire or parody. Every morning we have been treated to muppetry of the highest order and it has really been laugh a minute. Thanks guys, but please, no encore.
Fryslan boppe
Talk about a 'damned if you do' article and 'dammed if you don't:......Watch the moment action is taken to incarcerating some leaders and otherwise cracking skulls, there would be a bluddy uproar.....Being condemned for not acting and also when acting, is such idiocy. Talking about incarceration...With all this coup-monger initiated political stuff both 2006 and now, never has anyone from that side been incarcerated...Compare that to the forces supporting electoral Democracy.....I wonder if that is possible in the current circumstances...Suthep and his co-leaders obviously feel immune to that possibility, considering their audaciousness....Sure makes one wonder about what is behind them.... scorecard
A deeply deluded article. Contrast this nonsense with the thread on how the internetional media sees the situation. But allowing for how the international media has / is reporting things well off the realities of the whole current and the longer-term attached history. kingstonkid
The military leaders are doing exactly what they should. Keep the tanks inside the compounds and the troops out of uniform in public. If the PTP and UDD had not been on such a vendetta after the 2010 antics they would have had a better chance of getting military assistance. HOWEVER,once the decided to charge military personnel with murder and take the military to court they lost all credibility. It owuldbe like one of us charging a person with assault for getting in a fight then when someone goes to poke us asking them to defend us. Most people i know would stand back and smile and remind me about the court case I started. The military is geared to the King and to the people. The police do not have the manpower or the desire to try to breakup any protests. Would you risk your life for the money that they are paid? This is not going to end soon and it is not going to end happily. PT have created too many moving parts that are all based on dreams and wild promises.

But there isnt a few 100 thousand protestors on the streets.. Theres a few 1000 now of which how many are 'hardcore' supporters who would actually stand out there with water canons or tear gas being thrown ?? A few 100 tops. Theres probably more hardcore supporters at any millwall v west ham game. The fact they cannot seem to control this speaks volumes for how much actual authority they have here.,
