Wedding present?

Featured Replies

A Thai lady I've known for several years is getting married to a Norwegian next week. I'm not especially close to her, and I'm not even invited to the ceremony in her home town up in Petchabun, but I respect her and I'd like to give her a small wedding present. She's got plenty of money, her husband-to-be gives her an allowance of 50K Baht/month, so I just want to give her something to show that I wish her all the best in her future life. Does anybody know if there's a Thai or Buddhist symbol or icon or talisman or whatever that they might believe brings good luck to a wedding? In Chinese society I know they sometimes give a well-crafted plate or picture with some mandarin symbols meaning good luck. Do the Thais have anything similar? Anybody got any other suggestions?
