I'll echo the above, unless you choose to live near the tourist traps you'll never know, where do you anticipate residing?

After living in northern BKK for some years I only discovered we actually have a local knocking-shop when my wife pointed it out to me (why she chose to tell me I still don't know).

We thought we would start in Chiang Mai then later to Chanthaburi.

There is not an "in-your-face" industry in Chanthaburi, as you would find in the tourist areas you've heard so much about. That being said, it was mentioned before, you have much more to be concerned about by the "gifted- amateur" than the bargirl.

I think you will be oblivious to it in Chanthaburi.

I hope this helps your peace of mind.

Where will you live?

You pretty much need to go to the areas that are well known for the sex industry, Pattaya, Phuket, parts of Bangkok.

Other than those areas, you will not see much of it.

It can be found in other cities if you are looking for it, but you must look.

Unless you plan to live in one of the aforementioned areas, you will probably never notice it.

Obviously not all expats leave their wife for a Thai one, but it does happen a lot.

Also true is that if they don't actually leave their family, it is very easy for them to have affairs.

The sex trade is only one aspect of Thailand and does not ever enter out radar.

Plenty of thing to do and see.

Markets, animal parks, shopping Palaces, Buddhist wats,lakes rivers , islands, ocean, beaches. food, music.etc

Most people visiting here never get a chance to do half of it.

To any couple considering visiting here, come on down.The water is warm, the people are nice, the food is Delicious, and the place is beautiful.

God bless him, why not, Nobody is saying it is not there and if you look for it it is easy to find, But for those who are not looking for that, plenty of other things to do. I have being coming to Thailand for close to 10 years now, Was in Pattaya once, not my cup of tea, Never being to Nana don't even know what it looks like,I am not making any value judgments, It is just not my cup of tea, got my family, my friends , enjoy all the other things Thailand has to offer. Dont look for it, never see it. I would say that's the life of most people here, at least the people I know.

I'd say then you don't know them very well. It's a total myth that women become less horny as they get older even past menopause.

Just that they feel constricted by social expectations to "act their age" and of course inconfident due to their reduced attractiveness.

The fastest growing demographic for STDs stateside now is old-age homes, assisted living facilities etc due to Viagra and their being pre-safe-sex generation. Caregivers are now trained to give them their privacy, strong patient-rights movement to allow partners to choose to share rooms, etc.
