Dear All, I need to apply for an extension of temporary stay based on retirement. I obtained non-immigrant B type O last November at Chaeng Wattana. I was advised by the officer back in then that I should apply for the one year extension two weeks before my current visa expires. I will be a little late with this and so can only apply 10 days earlier. Is this likely to cause a problem?

My other question is about where to go to get the extension. I remember reading awhile back that this process has now moved to ladprao. Can you please confirm if this is the case? And if so where exactly? Are they operating given the current political situation?

My last question is about th documents to submit. I understand they are pretty much the same as the ones I submitted in November. I will be using exactly the same letters from the banks showing that I have enough funds. It's the same amount i have had in my account for over two years ( basically my savings). I already showed evidence that the money came from abroad. I am using a regular current account for my daily expenses and so do I need to show them the details of that account to in case they query the fact that I have not touched my savings for more than 2 years.

As ever, thanks very much for your help and advice. Best regards.

No problem to apply with just 10 day remaining. You can do it up to the last day if you want.

Info about CW closure here there is another location besides Lad Phrao. Immigration services at Cheang Wattana now suspended

You will need new bank letters and up to date bank book.

Bangkok immigration does not normally ask to see an active account as a back up to your other accounts. But it would not hurt to have your other bank book or copy of statement if asked for.

No problems in aplying 10 days early, you can apply on the very last day and even up to 45 days early. Advise is always to do it a few weeks early, just in case you need some extra documents etc.

In BKK the extension can be done at two alternate locations, till the normal office opens again:

1. Immigration Service Center for 3 national Legalized Labors, Major Hollywood Suksawat, 1st Floor, Suksawat Road, Ratburana, Bangkok. Click here to view a map

2. Immigration Service Center for 3 national Legalized Labors, Imperial World Ladprao, 5th Floor, Ladprao Road, Wang Tong Lang, Bangkok. Click here to view a map

This temporary service will be started from January 13rd, 2014 until the situation improves. We apologise for inconvenience. Service time Mon-Fri 10:30 - 18:30 Closed on OFFICIAL HOLIDAYS

Same documents are needed, but of course a new bankletter and updated bankbook.
