I have a Mk1 Honda CRV with an LPG tank across the boot space. I want to change this for a donut tank to go in the recess under the rear floor and so get my space back...

I don't know for sure the capacity of the current tank, but it takes roughly 500 Baht to fill it up, and this gives about 250km range (more on a long run). I guess it's capacity is therefore about 35L (500 BAHT / 14.5 BAHT/L).

I find it kind of strange that this space even exists since the spare wheel actually sits on the outside of the vehicle, but there is a wheel shaped well there. My question is what capacity tank would fit there? Is this a good idea, or will I have no range?

Also, if I pay to have donut tank fitted what will it cost me? Will my tank have any "trade-in" value?

I would really like to have some idea of costs to avoid being ripped off by mechanics - a common worldwide phenomenon if you have no idea of prices!

I am in Chiang Mai if anyone knows a good place to go here.

Thanks in advance. :-)

I had a 68 liter LPG tank mounted in the boot of my crv 2002

It took away all available space and made transporting long articles impossible.

Had a talk with the firm who initially put that thank in, and asked them if an exchange might be possible.

It was, price 5000 baht, including all necessary work which included covering the holes that were there for the original tank

I chose a 48 liter tank, but eventhat was too high.

Had to take out the picknick table acting as cover for the space where the new donut tank was now mounted.

They made me a false raised floor covering the whole boot, clothed it in carpet, and a cover for the boot so that you could not look into te boot.

They charged me an extra 1000 for both covers.

worth it, very much so.

Hi hansni, that's great information, just what I was hoping to hear, thank you. I had read elsewhere that you may need to raise the floor by a few cm and take the picnic table out. I am fine with all of that. The one question I have, is why add the extra cover to prevent people looking into the boot?

By the way, I don't suppose you are in Chiang Mai are you? I am, and need to find a place to do this.

Thank you for taking the time to reply, Jim.
