I had to travel to Cambodia a several times this month and I' ve been told that applying for e-visa I will save some pages in my passport.

So I had found this webpage www.mfaic.gov.kh which looked very legitimated to me but....

Affter a few attempts I made payment and I got the email including the invoice number and inforamtion that I should waith for the

confirmation 1-3 days. I didn't recived anthing and ofcouse the payment was taken out of my debit card.

Did anyone had the same experiance? Is it a scam ? or am I missing something?

This is the real website: http://evisa.mfaic.gov.kh/

I don't know if the one you used ("www" instead of "evisa" at the beginning) is one of the fake ones or not...but they are out there. What was your total amount paid? Should have been $28 US. There's a page on the website where you can enter that confirmation number you received and check on the status of your visa, plus troubleshoot any problems you might be having.

I've gotten Cambodian e-visas more times than I can count, and I usually get the visa within 1-2 business days. The one time there was a problem (me entering my name incorrectly), they were very helpful and forthcoming and it was quickly resolved.

Thanks Ajarn

Looks like is the same page I used. I paid 35USD by the system called 2C2P.COM

and I got the email from the address [email protected] including: Invoice number and transaction referance.

That was almost 10 days ago. So what the next? What do I do now? Thanks for the advice.

You're right, it's the correct site, or appears to be, the URL you gave is just one level up from the one I gave. But how did you end up paying $35 for a tourist visa? That sounds fishy.

At any rate, you should contact them and see why your visa hasn't arrived yet...in fact, they say right on this page that you can download it if it never came via e-mail (btw, have you checked your spam box to see if it ended up in there?):

I have used the Cambodian E-Visa website (http://evisa.mfaic.gov.kh/) several times in the last few years without any problems and yes you do save a page in your passport each time you use an E-Visa - you just need to print two copies of the visa that they email you and take the copies with you.

The last time I used E-Visa was in December - I did the application online and paid for the visa at 6pm (Thai time) and received the email with the E-Visa attached at 9am the next day.

The visa cost US $28 for a tourist visa. The receipt I received after payment was from [email protected] which is actually the electronic payment service they use.

At some stage during the online application process you will be given a reference number which you should keep until the E-Visa is issued. With his reference number you can check on the status of your visa application. If you did not keep a copy of the reference number then you can retrieve it here http://evisa.mfaic.gov.kh/SearchRefNo.aspx - you need to fill in you email address and passport number.

If you email them they do respond by email fairly quickly.

I have just looked at the requirements to obtain the visa. Looks pretty straight forward.

However I was wondering about the photo requirement "a recent passport-size photo in digital format (JPEG or PNG format):

So rather than going to a photo shop to get yet another passport photo made and copied onto a memory stick, would it be possible to take a photo of a passport photo (not the actual one in the passport as it is sealed with a plastic film) and submit that.

Just wondering.

Thanks

Thanks for all the answers. I was waiting for the " Certificat of approval" to be sent on my email but it is possible to get it from the wbside filling out the passport number and email

After the refference number will show up on the webside we can get " the certificat of approval" dawnloaded and print. Thanks again for the help.

You could probably do that but rather than taking a photo of a passport photo you could get a friend to just take a photo of your self that meets passport photo requirements.

I am glad that e-visas are an option, and living in Thailand and traveling within SE Asia, nice to save passport photos, but it seems that $28 for an evisa is a high handling fee compared to $20 at the Cambodian airport/land border. Again, since I have the option, I am not complaining but it seems that the handling fee (if any) should only be $2-3.

It was $25 up until a year or two ago. It's slightly annoying that it's $8 more than visa on arrival, but to me it's worth it for prolonging the life of my passport!

hmmm compare costs of passport ( American $110 ) for a 48 page book vs paying an extra $8 to save a page

new passport wins hands down!!!

The extra $3 is for cc fee

I have done the e-visa a number of times but twice I paid and did not receive a visa. Each time I wrote and got a response that they would refund me the money (USD25 the first time, USD28 the second). Each time I did not get a refund to my credit card. This last time (Feb 2014), I have decided I will follow this til I get the refund. So far two email responses from them promising a refund the following month, and each time no refund. It's a risk I won't take again, especially as visa on arrival is only USD20 and a really easy process.
