My gf needs to renew her Thai passport. I read that she needs to go to Bang Na but that it's chock-a-block. Is that the case or can it be done by post? If she goes there will she get it same day or will she need to go back later to pick it up. I read that one woman turned up at 4am to find 900 people already in the queue. Or can it be got in another part of the country?

They're only doing 2500 per day, and reports are the queue's often closed by 10am, so only being #900 is a pretty good result.

Show up early!

We went to Central building in Bangkok, We got there very early, it opened. about 8.30, we was out for 3pm, they ask if you want to collect or have it posted. We opted for collect did not want to trust the Thai post.

Is that Central Bangna?

What time did you get there?

How long does it take before you can collect the passport?

Report from 21st January 2014

New passport arrived via the postman and signed for on the 30th January

When you went to Pinklao how long did you have to wait? Where in Pinklao is Tesco Lotus? What's nearest BTS/MRT? I have no idea where Pinklao is.

we went last June, we got there about 7.30, waited a long time to be seen , got out about 3 pm, we where asked if we would ,like to collect, it took three days before it was ready. But now things are different, many Thai people are trying to get there passport l would go and look, maybe stay in a hotel near and go for it. The ques now are phenomenal, some queuing from 4 am.

We were done by 11am.

I didn't have no idea where it was too. Google maps was my friend "Tesco Lotus Pinklao Bangkok"

Excellent. Fairly easy for us to get to. A boat and a taxi.

I would not bank on a quick turn around the Que was massive the other day they started queuing at 4 am.

Where was the queue at 4 am - Bang Na or Pinklao. We need to go, so if queue is long we'll just have to wait.

I don't think there's any more people getting passports than usual. It's just that they are now processing much less then usual so there is a big backlog. We're planning to go on Tuesday, so I'll let you know how we get on.

This thread is ridiculous. Why can't your girlfriend sort this out herself? I certainly wouldn't have to ask a foreign national how to renew my passport in the UK.

She could sort it out herself, but I'm being helpful and organised. Many on here offer great advice so it's often quicker and easier to ask questions here. She knows how to get it done but things are a bit messed up from the protests and many farangs on this forum have Thai girlfriends and wives and can give quicker answers. I think the UK is more organized with more accurate information available on what to do.

If you have a girlfriend or wife, then they have my deepest sympathy for having such an unhelpful partner. If you don't have one, then I think we can all see why not.

By the way, she didn't ask for my help. I just came her and asked. She helps me and I help her. That's how our relationship works.

You sound such a petty individual.
