Bar Work In Thailand

Hi.

Im hoping to work in Thailand in the near future. (Pattaya)

and im wanting to know about the Bar work over there, is it easy to find? or maybe even possibly renting a bar for a short period? (6 Months)

How would i go about this?

Don't pay too much attention to that post. They were referring to renting out your body rather than pouring drinks

Having read your other post about your mother being Thai, which means that you are also Thai, once you sort out your Thai citizenship you will be free from the restrictions that prevent foreigners from (legally) doing jobs like working in bars (serving drinks).

Until you do that, you won't be able to work in a bar. You will also find that the wages for bar work are in the ฿300-฿500 a day range, plus tips. That's between £6 and £10 by the way

My Mother is Thai thou, so therefore im classed as Thai as im half Thai.

And im getting a Thai Visa/Passport soon!

Yes, if you get Thai passport then there won't be any problems and you won't need visa in the first place. If you enter with foreign passport and visa - those restrictions will apply

If they made 100k in British pounds a month even I would consider putting a short skirt on.

Add to that the possibility of Sports Bars venues in the tourist centres, not just Pattaya. The islands for example where 95% customers will be heavy drinking tourists having fun

Well im currently doing a Travel and Tourism Course,have been for a few years now, i also have Business Courses. so im sure they would come in helpful right!?

I Also have a brother out in Thailand who works in a 5* Hotel in Bangkok.

Im hoping to be working in europe in the summer season, all depends if i get the job though!

Good you have seen it, and yes there are some good venues English speaking. If I were you I would take a month out traveling. Try the islands, look at the resorts. Research using trip advisor. Then make your choice as to what suits your interests.

With good English , which you seem to have , and a proper Bar course and training , look for a job in the high end Markets ... Hotels , Clubs and even Hard Rock Cafe .... you may make better money there ... CHOKDEE !!

Better find out about that first, bartenders are part of the 'hospitality" service jobs and many if not all of those jobs are prohibited to non Thais.

Thirdly, even if you do find a job, your salary will be half of what you would earn in your country.

And, fourthly, why would a bar owner want to hire you when he can probably find a Thai to work legally at half the salary you will want?

Yes, just depends on how hot you are. Lots of gay gogos and karaoke joints around town. Maybe also some boy bars for rich old kunyings but don't know about them specifically. Just hop a plane and don't forget to pack your Speedo trunks.

True, but very likely you will in effect be a Thai employee, more than likely the upper end of pay around 15k baht a month. In Pattaya even some Thais struggle to survive on that pay. As others have suggested aim for the upper end of the tourism venues. Unless you are in management, the salary will still be relatively low. I guess none of this matters if you treat coming to Thailand as a working holiday.

If you have the ability to work in the UK or Europe you would be MUCH better off doing that, live frugally there and then come to Thailand on holiday and live like a king for a while.

Trying to make a decent living here without very specific in-demand specialist skills is pushing <deleted> uphill.

Leasing a bar is very rarely profitable unless you don't mind being a pimp, and even then the BiB and landlords will get the bulk of your profits if any.
