Thai protesters vow no let up after disrupting poll

Featured Replies

Lots of Thai soundbites and a smart professional reporting closing with "even if." - This is great stuff. The Thai press, you can't beat it.

I really do not know what the shout is all about......

It is up to Thailand to handle their own problems,

And if I have it correctly, they are supposedly a sovereign nation?

Or are they.........??????

My point is to let them handle their problems,

In their country.....

My mind is to speak little,

maybe to listen,

and let them sort it out........

I am merely an outsider,

with no vote in what the people choose to do...

So who am I to say,

I respect what they want,

After all, I respect what they choose......

Just a thought...... giggle.gifgiggle.gifgiggle.gif

How many charges does Suthep have against him now? He is pretty unpopular. He really is a terrorist which I don't deny. He is also striving for equality for all. He wanted all voices to be heard. He wanted all principles of democracy adhered too. He wanted equal protection under the law.

Between 1961 and 1963 there were 193 terrorist charges against a man in Africa. He was pretty unpopular. He strived for equality for all. He wanted all voices to be heard. He wanted all principles of democracy to be adhered too. He wanted equal protection under the law. He was eventually caught and jailed for 27 years. This man was on the US terrorist watch list until 2008.

I know Hitlers opponents were demonized in the 1930's and 40's. I am sure Mugabe's opponents where demonized. Chavez as well. People that can see a bleak oppressive future and want to change it are demonized. People that support a bleak oppressive future are UDD supporters.

Don't agree with me? Well that's fine. In a democracy we can all have different view points. I won't adopt the PTP view of the opposition as per the words of deputy PM Plodprasop "You are all garbage and I will have you all arrested" What a swell form of democracy that is and it is worth fighting to stop that form from spreading like a cancer.

Suthep - The Nelson Mandela of the East.

Very nice writing! But, keep in mind, Mandela has passed now, and so was proven to be a man of calm and even temperment, even in the face of terrible opposition to his noble cause. There was no major blood bath urged on by him when he finally came to a position of some control. (Unlike his wife, I suppose.)

If you follow what's happening on Blue Sky TV you'll quickly realize that he is receiving tens of millions of Baht on a daily basis from people throughout the country. A guy who has made millions off the sale of protester T-shirts has alone donated 13 million THB. I don't think that's enough so ther must be other sources as well. I don't have a clue as to where the money is coming from beyond what I see. I repeat that it really doesn't make a difference as I feel confidant that it's not coming from the sale of meth, or gambling dens etc as he would be quickly found out and embarassed over it.

Suthep - The Nelson Mandela of the East.

Suthep has about as much in common with Nelson Mandela as Thaksin Shinawatra has in common with the Pope thumbsup.gif

Simply denying it does not change the fact he is a visionary. I don't doubt they are popular. The opposition of Hitler were simply persecuted.

I hear on this forum every second comment that Suthep is a terrorist. So your saying Mandela was never ever classified as a terrorist? No one ever though he was a terrorist?

Nothing in comment? Unless of course you think Suthep is not a terrorist?

This reporter must have been sitting and listening to Suthep when he wrote this article. All is not what it seems due to LM.

Suthep or anyone who removes my right to vote must be a dictator or fascist.

How many times will the elite try to take back control before Thailand has a real uprising.

No country can really develop unless its citizens are educated. - Nelson Mandela (The democrats have always tried to keep Issaan under educated)

Let's hope for all concerned that this doesn't turn into a civil war.

"No country can really develop unless its citizens are educated. - Nelson Mandela"

Unfortunately, that is one of the major problems. Anyone who thinks the rural folk are well educated is living in a dream world. I'm a cyclist (bicycle) and have traveled through hundreds/thousands of villages here in Thailand. I find most of the people to be very warm and friendly. However, few know little of the world outside their own village. The rural educational system is horribly inadequate to say the least with rote memorization the norm. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.
