Southern militants shoot and burn woman alive: Thailand

@peecee: Some posters know that I am married with a Thai Muslim, but will not accept that I personally do not follow the Islamic faith. It has become irritating & I will stop responding to them. However I will respond to those accusing me of making excuses for or being a supporter of terrorism just because I disagree with their opinions.

The brutal murder was made in front of several shoppers and vendors at the market but nobody dared to intervene.

The final five words here are key. People have to get involved if these disgusting acts

are to be extinguished. Think of the third plane at 9/11, or the efforts of passers-by at

Glasgow Airport. Nobody should stand by and watch - they should "intervene."

It's possible that the other shoppers and vendors sympathize with the people who carried out this murder.

Or it's possible that they weren't armed.

Could be wrong but I think the Brits gave Thailand a large chunk of Malaysia around 1909 and then there was more after WW 2. Thailand has not helped its 'southern cause' by the treatment of Muslims over the years. As for these pitiless murderers ... a slow bullet up the asre would do the trick ... gutless thugs.

Maybe time to hand it back.

There' s a bit of very interesting information on this subject, of course one might be subject to lese majeste for doing an internet search on it. Probably best done out of Thailand.

I'd like to know how the headline comes up with "burned alive.." with two bullets to the head prior. Thousands and thousands have been murdered. Why sensationalize this particular death?

The headline is shot then burned, so if correct she was not dead when they set fire to her. I don't see how that is being sensational. At least they had the restraint not to behead her, which as you know is often the case with these murders, which as you say there have been thousands of.

"Ignorance and prejudice are the handmaidens of propaganda. Our mission, therefore, is to confront ignorance with knowledge, bigotry with tolerance, and isolation with the outstretched hand of generosity. Racism can, will, and must be defeated."

Kofi Annan

Can also be applied to religious intolerance.

Aside from the brutality, because the killers left a note at the scene claiming it was in revenge for three children murdered by Thai security forces. Whereas the children were killed during a revenge attack on their father as an outcome of their father being released on bail after he murdered someone in a private dispute. This is not mentioned in the OP.

Whilst it has not been covered in this topic, it was recently claimed in the media the insurgents have been weakened by a number of killings by Thai security forces of cell leaders and others and they need more recruits for their campaign. Speculation, but perhaps the false message in the note was an endeavour to get more recruits from the local population.

There is far too much religious ignorance, I am a great believer in people reading the koran and haddith. If more did so they could understand why these people do these things and they could see why jihadists and insurgents are just being good muslims.

Your ability to pontificate from a position of such complete ignorance and hatred is astonishing.

Hate destroys us all.

Much of the Qur'an contains elements of the Old Testament which i have read so yes i know those aspects. There are few similarities with the New Testament so I can't comment there.

However I have not read the Qur'an, but many Islamic scholars who have done so have condemned violence in the name of Islam and made it clear Islam does not support the bloody atrocities carried out in its name.

I will trust them above the comments of those who have neither read nor attempted to understand the teachings of Islam.

I should add at this point I am an atheist myself. However I have the utmost respect for those who have a faith and live by it.

However I have not read the Qur'an,

Yet you point the finger accusing others of ignorance, if you do read it you will see it has very little stolen from the old testament.

Clearly you are making this up as you go along. Again I will trust those who have read and studied the Qur'an above your irrational hatred every time.

Within the Quran and the thousands of hadiths there is content that talks to violence or promotes peace. There are interpretations that moderates or extremists can utilise to support their positions one way or the other. Same applies to Sharia Law in that there are ultra conservative implementations such as Saudi Arabia or more liberal in other countries/locations. Fatwas can either exhort non-violence or violence; admittedly the majority call for violence by extremist Islamic leaders.

Islamic leaders who have called out terrorism as against the tenants of Islam are more often than not vilified as liars, without any proof whatsoever, by the anti-Islam adherents.

And yet the jihadists carry on murdering on a global scale in the name of Allah, somebody must be wrong then, and I don't believe it's them. Just who are these Islamic 'leaders'? for every one you can come up with I can come up with as many who believe the opposite.

If you have read it then your position on Islam as a faith is even more bizarre. Again I will trust those who have devoted their lives to the study of the Qur'an before you.

Although them are a small minority, Islamic extremists are just that & will not listen to or accept any other POV. You and I could point to differing messages from 'leaders' and would be an exercise in futility 'cause its not going to change anything.

Burning the wife alive is horrifying retribution. But the article raises the issue of the three (3) children killed that the retribution note indicated. The newspaper made no effort to explain these deaths or investigate these deaths or charges. Burning the police wife's body alive is no excuse, but we need to understand what they are referring to about the death of three children at the hands of Thai police.

Alive?

after 2 bullets to the head, i suspect she was far from alive when burned.

Not so that's why snipers are trained not to shoot at the head but at the chest. Shooting in the head does not always kill straight off like it does in the movies

She was walking into a market. A gunman approached and put two bullets in her head.

Do you realize how fast something like this happens, and how long it would take the average person to realize what's happening and even begin to try to intervene? How does someone without a gun take on a shooter?

A second person pours gas on her and lights it.

Even if that happened in the US with me as a bystander carrying my Glock 23, I don't think I could react fast enough to understand what's happening, draw, aim and fire and stop the shooting. The perps were probably so focused on the woman that I could probably shoot both of them, but I couldn't save the woman.

Absolutly true. The first two shots get your attn....by then its over. Two shots to the head? The poor woman was dead before she hit the ground and nothing to be done to save her. She prob never knew about the fuel or the fire thank goodness. The total attack was prob about 10 seconds.....she was dead in the first two. Terrorist like this need the same fate ...minus the two shots to the head.

I find it a bit odd that people seem so obsessed with whether or not the victim was dead or not before they set fire to the body. Terrorists like this should be wrapped in pig skin, then executed.

Which would then just intensify / esculate the conflict. Comply with the Thai legal process, rather than provide further justification for the insurgents cause and more than likely create more recruits.

People making extreme commentary, are of the same mindset as those they oppose.

I think you will find all 'leaders' if you can call them that agree that the later 'revelations' counter the earlier ones. This means most of the violent/hate ones such as instructions to rid the peninsular of Jews and Christians overrules his earlier more tolerant ramblings

Funny how an eye for an eye is OK for them but not for the victims. OK for them to cut off heads so people will not enter heaven, but it's offensive, counter-productive and oh so wrong when it's even suggested they get a taste of what they dish out.

Do you agree or disagree that your proposal "Terrorists like this should be wrapped in pig skin, then executed." would intensify / esculate the conflict with the outcome of an increase in more deaths of Buddhists in the deep South?

Do you believe that Mohammed actually received messages from god ? I don't know if the pig skin idea would work but it's worth a try. The only thing these people understand is force and fear. What they take heart from is liberal appeasement and those that continually give into their demands.
