I noticed there is a sky train station on the bridge on the river at this location.

I am thinking , now correct me if I am wrong ,

The river boats that stop at nontaburi boat pier that is pier number 30 I am wondering if the will make the pranangklao sky train on rattan a Tibet the last stop and extend the service to there ?

It would be very convent for me .

This is my logic but could be wrong , any feed back thanks

As far as I am aware the only station right next to the river is Sapin Taksin, which is near the business district in Sathorn.

This is the new sky train in nontaburi going down rattan a Tibet Saphin Taksin is on the other end of the city

Who knows they might if the demand is high.

Like you i live near there where would those boats go. ?

Still more then a few years before they complete it... with all the trouble it is causing.

Hi Robblok , I remember u live in my area to. Does appear that they are building a boat pier there also.

I was just reading another article about rattan a Tibet turning in to another sukmovent I can see that after 10 years in nontaburi.

The trafic is the same now as sukmovent in rattan a Tibet under the sky train

Took me an hour yesterday to get to Tiwanon from bang bua thong

My wife and I were watching a show on tv some time ago and it was on this area and now rattan a Tibet , bang yay , bang bua thing , soi noi is the most sought after area in the region by Thais for living and business now.

The amount of condo development and projects near the sky train are on a world scale I have never seen

It might be its downfall. I live just a little bit past the end stop (1km or so). I do most of my driving on one of the two bikes I own. The car is just a lot slower and only use it when i absolutely need too.

But yes condo's and stuff are going up but the mess it creates is bad. For instance in front of the big C (former carefore) now many of the lanes are blocked by taxi's and minivans. I prefered it when it was easier to go to places.

Do you know by any chance what they are building past the big C when you turn towards rattana tibet. Some say they are building a central.

Every think I hear it is a massive central mall going in but then again I a, hearing this from Thais mostly have never seen any signs or advertising for it.

I agree my wife has a office in a 2story shop house behind the home pro and what a night mare getting past all the mini busses and taxis with the construction on top of that battle to get through there.

The size of that sky train is massive in that area.

I think even when it is finished there will. Be more congestion because motor bike taxis mini vans and taxis dropping peopl of there from around the area and add a central mall there .

And look like a park and ride at the end of the line on the sky train to add more trafic to the area.

And if they do something with the Big king it will be a mess.

Another sukmovent

It would make so much sense to get the excellent ferry service to connect with the sky train. I suspect, that , despite many knowledgeable people suggesting such an occurrence it is unlikely to happen, until the current builds are finished.

That is if the current builds do get finished, who knows what sort of rice pledge type schemes and that unfinished road that is just concrete pylons heading north on wipawadi road type schemes can go on between now and its expected completion.

I think the current lines will get built as are, then having sent contractor vehicles and equipment back to China, the newest transport pepes will look and decide to get a budget to join these up with river, with lots of back slapping. That is the optimistic outlook.

What amazes me.. and its always the same in Thailand that they don't reserve some room for the taxis and make sure they don't park outside that room. Everywhere selfish people are congesting the roads. Minivans / taxi's and busses.

I travel that area a lot and mostly on the bike as its just too slow in the car. But i seen it so often that 4 lanes become 2 lanes or even 1 because of selfish people. The flow could be so much better if the police would really police. They do that during rush hour and its is really an improvement then. It goes faster as in the less busy periods then.

That was a skytrain-like project, cancelled decades ago.

I've heard the same. Rumoured that it will be the biggest Central yet.

I heard that it would become a huge parkinggarage for the skytrainstation in bang bua thong. Also they are building a new mall called Crystal place at Ratchaprueck, i saw the sign and the construction.

That big roof on the bridge at rattana tibetroad looks like a skytrain-station but how would we get up there? It is pretty high.

No the huge parking garage is more towards me. I seen it its unmistakable. I am talking past the big C towards rattana tibet turning left.

One part of me is happy.. the other part is like.. dammm traffic hell. If they can find a way to make sure the taxi's don't block the main road / have a separate waiting area its ok. But that is like dreaming and expecting central to plan or pay for it while they will think its the goverments job and don't have something like that just more mall space.

of course in my skepticism I am forgetting that part of the track actually is along side the yanhee hospital or something, so they may well make that connection.

for robbiok - a powerlifter?- I think any efficient public transport system would see the demise of the taxi problems. Just imagine if you could get to work without being stuck in traffic and being subjected to taxi driver drivel, and crap taxi drivers for a lower price then there will be less demand, less taxis -eventually, less traffic on road and less bad drivers. next would be the white van problem, though that requires a decent interregional travel system. Not the current train system that departs BKK on time, but rarley ever returns to BKK on time usually + 2 hours or more

In a perfect world you are right but have you ever tried to pass a BTS station.. taxis like vultures occupy all the lanes stop everywhere and create a big traffic jam. That is the problem.. if they had made taxi stands things would be good but they never do.

Just ask anyone who frequently travels in BKK by car or bike.

Also the line we are talking about does not pass the yanhee hospital but kasemrad hospital in Bangyai.

Yes i know that corner, the taxi's wait there at the walkingbridge all over the road and block all traffic. But sometimes there is a policeman there and they don't dare to do that. I always stay left with the motorbike and pass them all left but that's dangerous because passengers for the white mini buses have to go in/out there.

So it will be a huge mall on that corner? That's great! I hope Foodland will come there and there finally is a decent supermarket at the other side of the river.

That roof on the bridge at the skytrain is not right above the thanam nonthaburi pear though. A good connection between skytrain and riverboat express would be the best and then also a good guarded parking for motorbikes. Then people can drive a motorbike to the pear and from there travel by boat/skytrain.

The white mini-buses are the most rude drivers of all, i will never ever use them.

We live just past the bridge in the direction of bang yay, not long ago , whilst we were having a meal at one of those restaurants you can see from the bridge , i remarked to the wife how silly it was that the ferry stopped at nonthaburi , pier 30 , and did not at least continue on to the overpass , where it would be considerably more appreciated , as it is an extremely busy and popular area , even more so now ,, ,,, she surprised me by saying that a long time ago it did ,, but the pier was knocked down when they built the first overpass ? on top of it whistling.gifwhistling.gif ........ so i would imagine it might be a case of [watch this space ] but do not hold your breath .... I push past them on the right.. to the left is just too dangerous in my opinion. But yes on that corner they are building something and it is rumored to be a big central. I can't be sure it is just what others have told me.

Rob if they build a new Central then it is always on their website. I checked it some weeks ago and only saw new Central malls being build in the rest of Thailand, not in BKK. But you never know, TIT. My wife told me it would be a big parking to connect to the skytrain because Chatuchak is always full and to far away.

The riverboat should be extended and operated untill midnight. I like to use it sometimes but it should be made better organised. It is hard to get the right boat and they also don't speak english at all there.

A Central in that location makes a lot of sense commercially, what with all of the people in that area and what with all of the development that is happening. I've heard it from too many people for there to not be something in it.

Out of interest, does the website mention the Central being built at Phuttamonton Si 7? Due for completion by July.

There is another huge building at Rattana tibet with the Letters Hobby Lobby on it. That building is empty for many years and i always wonder what is going on in there. Now that the skytrain is passing it close i bet it will be another shopping mall soon.

Does anybody know what the Hobby Lobby is?? It is situated where the skytrains bends away from Ngamwongwan-road or maybe it is still Rattana tibet .
