Popular Post Lite Beer Posted February 12, 2014 Popular Post Share Posted February 12, 2014 Satis Sehgal’s deportation proposal rejected BANGKOK: -- The immigration committee has rejected the proposal by the Centre for Maintaining Peace and Order (CMPO) that Indian businessman Satis Sehgal be deported due to lack of evidences to prove that he is a security threat. The Isra news agency reported that the committee headed by Mr Prapass Boonyindee, deputy permanent secretary of the interior, met on Monday to consider CMPO’s proposal to deport Mr Satis, president of the Indian-Thai Businessmen Association and a core member of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee.Two representatives from the Department of Special Investigation and the National Security Council defended their case before the committee on behalf of CMPO. They alleged that Satis’s conduct for his involvement with the protests constituted a threat to the society in accordance with Article 12 (&) of the Immigration Act.The committee however disagreed with CMPO’s proposal on the ground that Mr Satis’s speeches delivered at protest stages mainly focused on his loyalty towards the Monarchy and, therefore, were not considered as a social or security threat which could justify for his deportation.The committee has demanded CMPO to find more evidences to back up its deportation proposal.
