How much is enough for the wife's monthly allowance?

Recommended Posts

We do not know enough about the OPs position here, is he separated from his wife? If so, does he want to be with his wife? Is it the case that he does not want to be with his wife? Or maybe he does and he wants to look after her hoping she will come back so he keeps sending her money.

Is he working away from home with the wifes blessing? Did they talk about the finances between them before he left? In any case. 15.000 Baht per month is enough to keep her. He is not responsible for the wifes mother, that is her responsibility along with any brothers or sisters he may have.

I think to give the OP any help or advice, he will need to tell us more.

We're not separated. We're married. I'm just sending money to her while I'm away. I currently work for a living and hope to move to Thailand permanently in the future though.

I was hoping 15k a month would keep her happy but I don't know if it's enough. She says I at least *partially* support her whole family? blink.png I have no idea how an entire family could survive on that small amount I sent her. Seemed like a joke to me.

And the family are laughing. How did they survive before you dropped out of the sky.

Perhaps they sold Heavy Drinker his overpriced 'dumpy' apartment? smile.png

Tyler, Dude^ never a good idea to have your hooker write your rants in Thai, especially when it makes you look a <deleted>...clumsy use of "กู" and "มึง" there....pronouns are sticky....

Somsri, are you speaking from experience? It seems like you have a tale top tell and share so why not do that to save the next generation?

Ok, let me break it dow for you how much things cost in Thailand if you live in the tourist area:

Rent, utilities, cable, Internet = 15k

Foods, drinks, restaurants = 10k +

Beauty supplies hair, nails, make up, cloths = 5k+

Transportation, taxi, gas = 5k

Visit family back home = 5k+

If the wives or GFs tell you otherwise, they have not been true about the cost of living.

yeah whatever!

the fact that you even said that just goes to prove that you have no idea what your talking about.

i have to laugh at the irony though...

somebody who proudly labels themselves heavy drinker, who then addresses people as "dude" butting in on a conversatuon between two stangers and then commenting on a language he clearly has no real grasp of... and calls the other person a <deleted>...

like i said, whatever...

the fact that these women need help fiancially regardless of the amount and are unable to support themselves, just goes to prove that they are losers.

OK I'll weigh in on this one. I've been with the woman for more than five years. We've known each other for more than six. I have never supported her (by giving her a monthly allowance) but would be willing to if the circumstances necessitated. She has a good job of 21+ years and can take care of her self. Believe it or not, she actually turns over her pay check to me as we decided TOGETHER one pot of money for the both of us was the best long term plan. We both have part time jobs outside of our main salarys that we both see as our mad money, and to do with as we please. Now it took a lot of talking and conversation in the beginning of our relationship in regards to how to best deal with money both separately and jointly. I started out by showing her "coffee can" saving for various future needs, both fixed and variable, as she had never learned these things before and had lived in the " typical" Thai way of being in the moment. We were able to make a joint plan that was in BOTH our interests. During the first couple of years, we were able to pay off debt on land she had bought prior to meeting me, with her OWN money. It took a restructuring of her savings and investment strategy vs debt obligation to render this possible. As she often has said, conservatism isn't sexy, and it's slow. However, in the past two years she has started to see the true rewards of financial disipline and understand concepts of compound interest and reinvestment of dividends as our joint portfolio is increasing to a modest level that gives us assurance we will one day be able to retire in a lifestyle that is without worry. Mind you, WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT BEING RICH, just being able to go on together as a team to a ripe old age. My lady is my love and best friend. It's not always a bed of roses, but having talked upfront about money and our goals in life I believe has saved us (or at least me 555) a lot of aggravation.

In closing, would you give your wife an allowance in the country you come from??

I give Fiancé 8,000 baht a month, if she works, she can make 8,000 baht a month, up to her if she works. She's Gorgeous she lives in Isaan , she's perfectly Happy, she had child with former husband, he pays nothing and never sees child, I would never pay more than that, 15,000 , No Way....

well, your entitiled to your opinion and all your "ducky" comments but if you were able to read thai and understand it proparly without your google translator, then you would see there is nothing wrong with my thai...

i do feel that thai is not the only language you struggle with though, as your ability to read and understand simple english is obviously not that great either, you and sri seem to have that same problem.. probably the same person or friends...

but either way if you actually read peoples posts proparly you would be able to read that i grew up here, went to school here and have full thai nationality..

now i am pretty sure you dont have thai nationality, im also pretty sure you didnt go to school here either and i dont think i would bento far off the mark by saying that you probably are the one has has a poor knowledge of thai language in general.

now of course you will reply with your bar girl and hooker comments, i wouldn't really expect much else from you to be honest.

at the end of the day you will believe what ever it is you want to believe.

and your write about this being a public forum, but the conversation between me and sri with regard to thai language was obviously a conversation between us (although in a public forum) which you to took upon yourself to butt into.

anyway you have your opinion and i have mine and mine is that you and sri are either the same person or you are a friend who just happen to come along in the nick of time to defend their cause.

but i think most posters here are capable of seeing through it.

anyway, nice talking with you..."ducky"

I too laugh at the irony.

Middle-aged men calling themselves "Heavy Drinker" and then using the term "dude".

It summons up visions of weak unfulfilled wannabes.

Say no more.

คนที่เขามีความรู้เขาไม่พูดกับผู้หญิงแบบนี้หรอกค่ะไม่รู้ว่าจะตอบไปทำไม

I believe she said " there are people that know you don't speak to girls like this. I don't know why you answer like that"

Sorry if I got it wrong ?

close enough, it actually sais "people who know, dont talk to women like that, i dont know why i should respond"

basically they are saying, a someone should know better than to talk to a lady like that and because i spoke to "her" that way, she doenst see why she should respond

but i dont believe this person is a thai lady, read their previous posts, you can just tell.

You were spot on pretty much Bgrass.

Not bad from my Texas trailer.....maybe Tyler, or his irony loving pal can translate better from their Ekkamai 5000B dosshouses....

lol you just proved my point, funny how just as you started butting in sri has gone quiet.

you are the one who is clearly using a translator.

anyway enjoy the monster truck show

OK thanks! Just learned that turn of phrase ไม่รู้ว่าจะตอบไปทำไม "I don't know why I should respond" makes sense now. I was confused by the answer ไป why part. ?

??? I feel very proud I didn't use a translator. Been leaning Thai through an intensive method since the beginning of the year and I could actually make out the gist of it! A proud moment for me ????

I reckon he lives in Thailand, but I reckon he's just a quiet little guy who fantasizes about things he never achieved.

Hence the moniker and the "dude" speak.

Like I said, he's an unfulfilled wannabe and he knows it.

To give you a loose explanation, think of saying "why have I been driven to this"? in English.

ไป is often used in Thai as an "indicator" of the(intended) direction feelings, sentiment, objects, not just going somewhere.

You did well pal. Better than Tyler who clearly knows zero Thai...

again your showing your lack of abilitynto read, scroll up and you will see that i answered him, more clearly than you.

is it hot in texas?

you doing really well

in thai there are many words that are used to link words and sentances together and also to complete sentances, when the word ไป is used this way in sentances it does not hold on to its true translation as "go" it does not really translate into english in anyway.

the word ไป means to go but when you use it in sentances like "ไม่รู้จะตอบไปทำไม" i dont know why i should answer

or จะทำแบบนี้ต่อไป i will do it this way from now on

or คุณจะรู้ไปทำไม why do you want to know?

Posted

Probably less hot than in your wallet in the morning...when your 'typist' demands payment in your grotty shoebox tenement in Ekkamai laddie.....

lol ... laddie

a scotsman in texas with a google translator... priceless

But a Scotsman who uses the correct pronouns....LOL.

Thanks for the laugh. Your feeble attempt to try and make people think you can write Thai has me and the wife in stitches....

or คุณจะรู้ไปทำไม why do you want to know?

Hahahahaha try: "why do you need to know more?" or "how much more do you need to know"? Hahahahaha you can't even get that right....get your sleeping translator working right.....but thanks for the laugh....

What a feeb.....are you a boiler room boy? 3 days in BKK, 3 months on Stickman.com and you're "fluent" in Thai and mr expert?

either way i am sure him and sri are the same person..

maybe he has split personality disorder!

probably puts on a dress when he posts as sri and puts on his chang wifebeater when he posts as heavy drinker.

the real question is, what kind of moron chooses the name "heavy drinker" like it is something to be proud of by naming themselves after their vices!

mind you at least he didnt choose "rapist"

that will probably be his next user name when he gets bored of using the name sri.. or his dress in the cleaners
