lopburi3 Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 If you had an O-A visa you should have received a one year permitted to stay stamp upon entry to Thailand and have no need to ever visit Penang. Did you go through the police check, medical certificate, bank account over 800k process in Canada? What exactly is the wording on the visa they issued you? Penang can not issue you a retirement visa - the most they can provide is a normal non immigrant O visa that you extend for retirement during the last 30 days of a 90 day entry at an immigration office here in Thailand using a local bank account with 800k from overseas/your Embassy letter of pension, medical certificate and bank letter confirming your account balance along with passbook and passport copies.
Maestro Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 Rexy, in your original post you say that you originally entered Thailand with an “OA for 1 year” but in the title of your topic you mention “marriage visa”. Having last entered Thailand on 5 December 2005 with a permitted stay of 90 days, I presume that you are currently in Thailand without a visa, on a 30-stamp on arrival, having done border runs after those 90 days expired. If it is the so-called marriage visa you want, you still do what Lopburi suggests: go to a Thai consulate – Penang or KL, it does not matter which – to obtain a non-immigrant O visa (bring copies of marriage certificate and Thai wife’s ID card), then after entering Thailand, during the last 30 days of your permitted stay of 90 days, apply at your local immigration office for an annual extension of stay for the purpose of supporting your Thai wife. If, on the other hand, you want annual extensions based on retirement, you need only your passport for your non-O visa application, no documents related to your marriage necessary. Follow Lopburi’s advice. However, if what you want is a multiple-entry non-O visa, valid for an unlimited number of entries with permitted stay of 90 days per entry within one year, best go to KL and apply for this visa there for the purpose of visiting your Thai wife. Bring copies of marriage certificate and wife’s ID card. --------------- Maestro “The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place” _ George Bernard Shaw
