Hello, I would like to ask any advice concerning setting up a small business.

I am British married to a Thai citizen. We do not have multi-millions, to set up big companies.

But we do wish to set up a small learning center in a rural area near Chumpohn. We can do in quietly but as a foriegner I do not wish to be living in fear of getting caught with out a work permit etc.

What are our options ?????

You could set up a limited company with a limited capital, say 1 million baht given you are married to a Thai national then you should still quailfy for a Work Permit. Note ... you don't need the 1 million in any bank, it's just a fee to pay on the capitalisation.

You might consider an alternative which I have not explored myself (we have gone the company route) where you are employed by your wife in her small business. I have been told (??) that you can still apply for a Work Permit in this situataion and given you might be out of the mainstream tourist areas then that might be much easier.

Best of luck.
