Horizontal lines in screen

Featured Replies

When scrolling a webpage I get horizontal lines in the background. This is especially visible when a dark background or when I expand a picture on the TV webpage.

I thought it is a problem with my graphics driver, but then I found out that the problem is only with Firefiox. When opening the same page in explorer there are no lines.

Any suggestions ?

Edit to add : I have the latest driver for my graphics card. I found that if I disable the driver, then enable it again, the problem disappears until the next time I start up my computer. But still the fact that it only happens with firefox and not with explorer.

A bit more information please! What kind of graphic card/chip and system are u using?

I'm on a HIS ATI Radeon HD 5450 total memory 2813MB dedicated video memory 1024 Mb, on windows 7 ultimate x64 with 4Gb ram, MB Gigabyte P55-US3L with I5 processor., Monitor is 42" LED 1080p.

I updated to the latest driver because a new installed program told me I wasn't using the generic driver from the card. I installed the update through automatic update driver in hardware options.

Before I updated I didn't have the problem, and currently I don't get the option to roll back the driver. Also the program now detects the driver as generic

Try disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox preferences.

I try to uninstall ATI catalyst, but get error message saying something like side by side configuration is not correct, so can not uninstall.

Next I try to reinstall ATI catalyst from the original cd of the graphics card. While installing pc shuts down, blue screen, and when restart hangs on the start up screen.

When I a few days ago updated the driver I also got the same, but pc still able to restart.

After trying all the options like safe mode, repair, check memory and whatever, all with negative result. I restore to latest good configuration. Windows choose one automatically.

Now the pc starts up to the logon screen, but mouse and keyboard don't work. Can not start up in safe mode either. Keyboard works in the bios setup, but not anymore when I need to logon.

Click the repair option again and now can choose a system restore point myself, Choose the oldest one and this goes with positive result.

Now can log in again, but still get the same error message when I try to uninstall ATI Catalyst.

Ok, I managed to uninstall ATI Catalyst using CCleaner . For now the horizontal lines are gone, will update if they return.

The software program I installed a few days ago doesn't give me a message that I don't have the correct video driver, so far everything fine.

Try disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox preferences.

After I had succeeded in removing ATI catalyst, which solved the issue, it returned when I restarted my computer.

I have now disabled hardware acceleration as suggested by MKasok, and after restart Firefox the issue is gone again.

Let's hope it is solved now. To be continued ............

Thanks to MKAsok for coming up with the correct solution. After restarting the PC now a few times already, the issue hasn't returned .
