It's not hard to eat with a knife and fork - is it? Teach the poor guy.

I just built a shed if you want any tips.

Was one of my daughter's birthday last week and another one's in 2 days - happy times and good food.

S&P birthday cake is much better than Svensen IMHO.

No way...ice cream cake way better.

Had the s and p cakes at other kids parties and never finish the plate let alone go back for seconds....ice cream cake, always go back...and the next night if any left over.

We have another one in couple days, 4 days apart.

Never really thought about it before, but now you mention it, I cant think of one Restaurant we have used in our area where a knife is supplied, they always give fork & Spoon, any meat dish the meat is usually pre sliced/cut etc.

Anyway, happy birthday to your daughter.

Even relatively wealthy Thais don't use a fork and knife "properly" by western standards anyway.

But true country folk eat mostly sitting in a circle on the floor using mostly their hands.

Try an authentic Ethiopian eating experience sometime. . .

Hahaha, reminds me of my younger siblings who struggle with their knives and forks.

Too much Thai food and not enough farang food. One was struggling to cut a sausage with a steak knife.. poor kid.

They don't know how to use a table also !

And use a separate cup.

I agree, teach the poor guy. Chopsticks are hard. I use these...

biggrin.png Funny!

My girl had to ask how to eat when i took her out for a steak dinner.

On the other side, i'm not very skilled with the chopsticks, so i guess I can relate..

I know quite a lot of Thais that don`t feel comfortable eating in Western style restaurants, including some of my wife`s family.

Sometimes it`s simply because they don`t enjoy the food or the way it`s served. Similar to how we all have our preferences when eating out at restaurants. Some of us may not like Indian or Chinese for example.

Perhaps the OP could choose a restaurant that they all like? A compromise so that everyone`s happy all round.

Daughters birthday daughters choice....

If you think I am the slightest concerned that an inlaw could not come along because his table manners are still stone aged...think again.
