Wrong, it'll never be over, ... Coup and then what???? another ambush attack for the hardcore redshirt leaders and their blind supporters, just another preparation for ANOTHER Battlefield Bangkok in the future,

wanna bet???

You're quite possibly right. There are too many interest groups on all sides with little care other than their own wealth and power.

Having said that, if the Shins can be ousted for good, the situation may get better... say from 'extremely corrupt', to just 'very corrupt'.

Guess lots of you folks dont realy know who this "Suthep" figuere is???

Not here to defend the Shinawatras asthey sure are a corrupt bunch but then lets all gather behind that skum claiming to have the interest of the Thai people at hart????? 55555555555555 its from extreme corrupt to even more extreem corrupt its actualy just a geographical change from the North Corrupt to the South corrupt bunch

let me remind some people on who Suthep Thaugsuban really is.....

from Wikipedia so no secrets here

Suthep Thaugsuban (Thai: สุเทพ เทือกสุบรรณ; RTGS: Suthep Thueaksuban, [sù.tʰêːp tʰɯ̂ːak.sù.ban]) (born 7 July 1949, Tha Sathon, Phunphin District, Surat Thani Province) is a Thai politician and former Member of Parliament for Surat Thani province. Until 2011, he was secretary-general of the Democrat Party and a deputy prime minister under the unelected Abhisit Vejjajiva Democrat-led government. He resigned his seat in Parliament in November 2013 to become the self-appointed Secretary-general[3] of the People's Democratic Reform Committee,[4]

1995 to present corruption scandal

As part of the Sor Por Kor 4-01 (สปก.4-01) land reform scheme, Suthep gave title deeds to 592 plots of land in Khao Sam Liam, Kamala and Nakkerd hills of Phuket province to 489 farmers. It was later found that members of 11 wealthy families in Phuket were among the recipients. Suthep addressed a huge crowd in his Surat Thani constituency a month before a no-confidence debate and called on his supporters to march on Bangkok in the hundreds of thousands to defend his reputation.[5] The scandal led Prime Minister Chuan Leekpai of the Democrat Party to dissolve the House of Representatives in July 1995 in order to avoid the no-confidence debate.[6] In subsequent elections, Thai Nation Party won a majority, leading to the downfall of Chuan Leekpai's Democrat Party-led government.

Wikileaks diplomatic cables from the US embassy revealed that many members of his own party have long complained of his corrupt and unethical behavior.[

2009 disqualification as MP

In 2009, Suthep was accused of violating the Constitution of Thailand by holding equity in a media firm that had received concessions from the government. Under the 1997 Constitution of Thailand, which Suthep had supported, Members of Parliament are banned from holding stakes in companies which have received government concessions. In July 2009, the Election Commission announced that it would seek a ruling by the Constitutional Court to disqualify Suthep.

Suthep held a press conference a day later, announcing his decision to resign from Parliament. Suthep's resignation as an MP did not affect his status as a Deputy Prime Minister and as a Cabinet member. If his case had been submitted to the Constitution Court, he would have been suspended from duty as Deputy Prime Minister. He insisted his resignation was not a proof that he had done anything wrong but that he was worried about status as Deputy Prime Minister.[10]

Look, both sides are corrupt.T.I.T

Both sides are falling the people.

But the yellow shirts have had the most practice at it.

Now the internet is in Thailand the people are becoming self educated.
All Thais can read about there country's true history.
Why the yellow shirts educated their children abroad.
Why red shirt children were not afforded the same education.

The red shirts all ways win.

All that remains to be seen, is by how much and for how long.

The red shirts had very substantial wins in China, Vietnam Lao, Burma and Cambodia

And yet the Thai Royalist yellow shirts have paid no heed to what happened to all their neighbours, due to keeping the people so down trodden.

and the name of your party is? Perhaps the Communists of ... since your not Thai, just fill in the name.

coup next week for sure.

The red shirts won't surrender this time. I just hope the yellow shirts and army remember they brought it all on themselves.

What red shirts?

The last time that they tried to take Bangkok and oust the anti government protestors they realized that they had made a very big mistake and went back home with their tails between their legs.

Now they are reduced to carrying out cowardly hit & run terrorist tactics.

The red shirts are loosing support at a rate of knots and are now a spent force.

Are you really so soft in the head that you believe these bullies can take on the army?

They hit n run tactics have brought the army to its knees in the south of Thailand where it's being destroyed by a few hundred poorly trained Muslims. I dread to think what thousands of red fanatics, of whom many have weapons and weapons training from army and police.

Oh no, I am fully aware that Suthep is fully corrupt, and of his past history. Thaksin takes it to a whole new level though. Which I why I wrote from 'extremely' to 'very'.

I consider Suthep to be a blunt instrument needed to get a job done. He is hardly the national hero that some people make him out to be. In all fairness, he has said he has not interest in leading Thailand. I hope he sticks to his word.

Good, so someone not Suthep and not Thaksin, yet with a popular mandate under the democracy. If she's also a woman, then that will take care of the alpha-male problem, the willy-waving problem disappears when the PM hs no willy to wave!

If only there was someone like that.

Perhaps if she also has strong support from our major allies. So much so they keep piping in and reminding Thailand to seek a democratic solution.

I know, crazy idea, but Yingluk Shinawatra!

She's a Shin, so the extremes on the farmers side will back her. She's popular abroad, won majority vote here and when faced with a willy-waving loon, she calls elections. Yep she's perfect for the job. Patient woman too, which faced with these power-grab idiots is a plus!

Problem solved.

Incidentally down here in the south, Suthep's support has collapsed.

Relegating the poor to a substandard education.

The yellow shirts have never wanted a population of citizens capable of critical thinking.

They don't want educated well informed voters.
They want workers.
Didn't the Royalist yellow shirts have a fair crack of the whip to mould Thailand's history the past 100 years?

Until you change the education system here, its going to be ground hog day for a very long time to come.

The yellow shirts have got what they wished for.
An uneducated people to control.
They just didn't bank on it being a red shirt controlling them.

Then tell me why the Dems when in power raised the age of free education from 12 to 15 yrs and had a package of education reforms on the table, which were scrapped by PT in favor of tablets.

Then when you have done that tell me what PT have done in the last 2 years, besides the disaster of the tablets, to improve education.

Hang on I just remembered, they set up red schools so they could spread their lies and hate to the kids.

Another one who likes to call anyone who does not subscribe to the Thaksin cult yellow, could it be you are the one who needs educating ?

"they set up red schools so they could spread their lies and hate to the kids."

Just to point out that the infamous Red Schools, mostly set up before the PTP-government came to power, were for propagandising adults rather than school-age children., and that they're not part of the formal government education-system, which remains pretty-crap after a decade of Thaksin-inspired/led governments. wai2.gif

<snip for brevity>

"from Wikipedia so no secrets here"

Unfortunately Wikipedia sometimes gets it wrong, the Democrat-led government from December-2008 to July-2011 was elected, by the MPs in the House, in just the same way that the PPP-led coalition-governments of PM-Samak & PM-Somchai (Thaksin's brother-in-law) were, also during 2008.

A cynic might well conclude that there are political-P.R. people, who are paid simply for introducing damaging/twisted-entries onto Wikipedia, as part of the on-going P.R.-war ? This may perhaps be an example of their work, and will no doubt eventually be corrected, by some other (probably also paid) contributor ? The entry has clearly been updated very recently.

Anyway you probably were here then, as one of TV's longer-term (since 2004) posters, and so do understand how Thailand's political-system works, PMs & governments being elected indirectly from the body of MPs, rather than directly by the people ? wai2.gif

Not to say that I'd suggest that Suthep is a particularly savoury character, any more than Chalerm or Newin or Banharn or many many others currently/previously in-power. wink.png
