webfact
Court dismisses Suthep’s request to revoke arrest warrantBy Digital ContentBANGKOK, March 4 – Thailand's Appeal Court has dismissed a petition by anti-government protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban, secretary-general of the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), to drop his arrest warrant on insurrection charge.Mr Suthep’s lawyer on Tuesday attended a hearing session following a petition asking the Appeal Court to overturn the lower court's decision. The lower court had rejected a petition submitted late last year to review an arrest warrant issued for Mr Suthep. The Appeal Court, however, decided not to revoke Mr Suthep’s arrest warrant, saying that the petition was redundant. Now you have a few FACTS in front of you, unfortunately your yellow tinted spectacles still blind you from clarity. Populist schemes are what democracy is all about. Politicians have constituents that support them financially and otherwise and there is always some payback for that. What is wrong with that? As for the vote buying, this is beating the same dead horse all over again with the same tired schtick. How many times does it take for the feeble minds out there to comprehend that if vote buying were a substantive issue in the reality of the elections, Suthept would never have boycotted the elections. What, you say? That's right, because if vote buying and other election irregularities had any substance at all, Suthep would have championed the elections and invited independent international monitors to prove his allegations and send PTP, Yingluck, and Thaksin packing for at least five years, if not longer.

rubl
Well, if k. Suthep goes to court and gets arrested without bail, the protests will just continue. The groups have clearly evolved beyond Suthep in the sense that they can now do without him if necessary. Furthermore jailed on a charge of 'insurgence' with some fools up-North calling for secession AND being a leading figure in anti-government protests will look a bit weird to the outside world and the UN. To imprison political opponents has run out of fashion, even in Ukrania. Edited March 4, 2014 by rubl

BTW I wrote "if Suthep goes to court". Once inside in the court I doubt Suthep would resist arrest. More likely he'd say "it's on your heads to paint the caretaker government in an even darker picture of harassing and prosecuting political opponents."
