First, I am NO defender of McD's crap (food).

However the facts seem to be very much against this complainer. First, she is Thai, better than 90% chance she is lying and scamming.

Then who the hell retains a receipt for a 36 B ice cream? And on top of which only returns 2 hours later to "claim" the roach lie. I would have told her if I knew there was a roach in there, it would have added 10B more to the ice cream. She got a bargain. And no, I would not have replaced it for her.

I hope McD's goes after this one big time. Counter sue her for liable, defamation, fraud. Hit her in the bullocks!

I think that the shop should have paid for the sundae so that the complaint did not go viral, even though it is quite possible that the customer was lieing.

Food costs are usually about 30% at most, but the potential loss of business from a viral complaint is far more. Just look at what the videos "United Airlines Breaks Guitars 1, 2 and 3" did to United Airlines' business when all the customer was asking for was a repair costing US$1,200.

what do you expect with junk food anyway ....

Starving folk around the world will live a long life eating "your junk" food...........rolleyes.gif

No they will not.

His junk food, as you put it, will not be available to the starving folk around the world for two reasons; lack of availability in the areas where there are starving folk and even when available these starving folk wouldn't be able to afford junk food of this nature anyway.

I see you added a smiley at the end of your post. That doesn't make it less crass.

About 4 years ago I had a bunch of tiny cockroaches floating in my hot coffee at McDonalds' Central Ladprao branch.

Ghastly!

I asked them to clean the machine properly and give me a new cup. Whilst waiting, I noticed that the floor looked greasy and filthy.

I haven't been back since.

Maybe she took the ice-cream to the toilet. That`s normal in Thailand, eating in the toilet is as normal as not cleaning your hand after a visit to toilet. I`ve seen hundreds of times they are eating in the toilet.

Mai pen rai.wai2.gif

eating in the toilet is kingdom multitasking

Not sure that a 100% beef is used in hamburgers, note heard some "home bread worms" are cultivated and used in some of the hamburger for protein or horse meat blended into the beef.

At any rate McDonalds has the money for lawyers and will never pay out on any case... if settlement happens it will be a silent one.

Would not say junk food..seem Mc D has cleaned up their act in providing a different selection of choices in food...it is the customer's choice for "heart disease Food" or go green in salads provided. Exercise your choice, eat out or eat at home...I prefer the later.

About 3 years ago I had a bug in the salad of the burger I bought at the same McDonald's. They replaced the burger (minus the bug)

Horse meat is superior to beef, I wish there was a little pony burger on the menu. Yummy!

The spout on those machines isn't big enough to dispense a cockroach. It must have been added post-dispensing (either by the server or customer, this remains to be known).

Good point about the machine.

My theory:

She bought the ice cream, and took it into the theater, ate it and enjoyed it. She set the container on the floor beside her seat when she was done with it.

Two hours later when the movie is over, she picks up the container to take it to the trash and finds that the bug has crawled into the container to feast on the sticky leavings in it.

You gotta figure that the average cool dark Thailand movie theater is heaven for cockroaches feasting on dropped popcorn kernels, spilled drinks etc.

She freaks out and rushes back to McD's after the movie to complain; after all she was eating it in a dark theater and might well believe the bug was there in the first place because she didn't see it until she walked out to the brightly lit theater foyer.

The only flaw in my theory is a Thai person picking up the empty fast food container to put it in the trash. No Thai ever does that.

Your supposition sounds good until the "pick it up to take it to the trash" part

not yo be a jerk, but over 90% of locals do not even think about this

Roaches are often abundant in Thai movie theaters. People drop lots of crumbs and foods and the maids don't usually sweep up until the next morning the cockroaches have the whole night to eat away and reproduce. The worst was the theatre in Siam that the red shirts burnt down. The old porn movies were also pretty bad eating away at old spunk but most of those venues have shut their doors, sadly.

Coming soon. McRoach.

This could have gone a lot further if they had not used skin-on fries in the picture. McDonalds does not use skin-on fries. Wish they did. Naw, on second thought, I am glad they don't. I never want to go there, thank goodness.

Go for it McD's................thumbsup.gif

Don't see the issue here....is McD's getting into the street food fast food business ?.....

Don't know how well fried cockroach flavoured ice cream will go down, but how's about cricket burgers, scorpion fries, etc

I can see it now..McRoach..

I wonder what's in the special sauce? My mouth is watering already.

I think the best point so far is that you couldn't get a cockroach through the nozzle.

Makes whole thing impossible.

Mcdonalds probably has some of highest food standards in Thailand with it being westernised and a franchise.

Highly sucpicious for any thai to complain about such a thing

Beg to differ on whether or not you're a jerk.

You didn't bother to read or understand the last line of my post before making your asinine reply.
