Starting to get annoyed with apple, anybody else

Been using Iphones for a while now and i do like the simplicity of them although must say little things are starting to annoy me now, generally IOS7 is a great improvment but the battery seems to be an absolute killer, literally it seems 1% per minute if im using internet its a ridiculaous, apart from the fact that you turn nearly everything off to save battery now if you go out you wonder about using the internet as it will kill the battery, why dont they put 2000+ maH batterys in them by standard if the phone uses that much, after all a phone is a phone and we need to conserve battery to make calls.

Here is a list of really annoying things with IOS that may make me move to Andorid, anybody else have any pet hates?

1. Cannot move photos from the camera roll into albums.

2. Delete the photo from camera roll and still shows up in moments view

3. Cannot take any picture or video in portrait view and get it to show correctly its always 90 degrees right or left

4. Add crop/filters to pictures using camera app if transfer then it removes the filters and cropping

5. Cannot adjust the video resoultuon from 1080 so a 5 minute video takes a whopping 1gb room

6. Still no pictures in contacts when scrolling through(although they are there if you open the contact)

7. Battery is an absolute hog with 10% lost on standby while sleeping, basically cannot use the phone to its full potential or you battery flat in couple of hours..

Rant over,

Most of what you're asking for is doable in other apps. Cobook for the contacts (it's free). Filmpicpro (something like this, not sure the exact name), for the videos at a lower resolution. In any case, Google or Duckduckgo is your friend.

Pictures showing up in the view, just turn off automatic iCloud upload. Once you delete 'em they'll be gone.

Regarding the albums, yes you can. Go to the Album / Select / Add to....or something like that, I believe you can add pics to albums.

Re: battery: how old is your phone/battery? Perhaps consider a battery pack case for the phone if you use it a lot.

Best to think of it not as a phone, but an always connected computer with some phone capabilities. Generally, if you don't like Apple's specific vision for doing something, there's frequently an app that provides and alternative. And if you're complaint is "well I want the APPLE APP to do it my way", it's silly.....might as well go into McDonalds and complain that they don't sell Somtom.

Yeah, if you don't like the stock app, try a different option. Just like every other platform in the world. If you by a windows pc and don't like the stock writepad or paint app, or whatever....get a different app. If you don't like Skype....get a different app.

I'm not sure what's going on with your photos. I turned off photo stream. Took a pic. Deleted from camera roll....I can't find it anywhere...including moments.

And yeah....BY ALL MEANS...if you're frustrated by M$ or Apple...try Linux. See what it's like trying too find drivers for things. Have fun compiling programs and working from the command line. Have fun searching through all the nerd blogs finding all the little tweaks to make sure your system is secure. If you like that...bully to you.

I LOL at the "Apple is for naive users" nonsense. That's why it's the preferred system for Google programmers (including Larry and Sergei). That's why it's preferred by Zuckerburg. Go to Silicon Valley into any company actually making and producing stuff and BY FAR the preference is Apple.

Linux is great for servers and IT nerds who love dicking around with their computer all day. Apple is great for people who use computers as tools to get things done. Microsoft is good for.....hmm...games?

Apple makes a solid product but anything you do must be done the way Apple wants it done. I have a Macbook Pro, a MacAir and use Apple's new Airport Extreme Router as I find them the best products available.

When it comes to mobile phones, it's the Galaxy S4 and soon to be the S5. Think about a change for more flexibility.

If Apple computers (which are PC motherboards with an intel processor) are so great.

Why don't NASA use OSX or Macs to guide stuff in to space, why don't the FBI/CIA use them to track criminals etc...

OSX Maverics can be installed easily on most new PC's for a fraction of the cost of buying a Mac and run windows and Linux too.

The way I look at it is, why buy a plain white Prada T-shirt for 7500 baht when you can buy a plain white T-shirt for 60 baht.

Both serve the same purpose but the 60 baht shirt will probably be more rugged.

I use a MacBook Pro, but I just switched to a Google Nexus. It was half the price of a new iPhone, and I think I actually like it better.

You definitely have a battery problem. My iPhone 5's battery retains it's charge much longer that what you describe.

Maybe I use Apple products longer than anybody....(since 1986). So I am really a fan of Apple products.

However, I got so annoyed with many inabilities of my iPhone, that I just decided to stop using it and 2 days ago I bought a Samsung Galaxy Win.

The most annoying thing is the stupid iTunes!!! and the Apple store. Less irritating is the inability to edit / delete Telephone Contacts...

Actually, I owned 3 Apple Computers. Early 80's. The Apple IIE (if I remember) was built so that you could open it up and dick around with it. Built for people like me that had an insatiable appetite to work around a system. The IIC was a closed system, if I remember, and was kind of girlish. Then that got the MacIntosh and set the world afire, battling out with Bill Gates. That was when people like me started leaving their computers on all night and setting up BBS's .... I still had acoustic couplers. Tried Everything, Commodore's, Atari ST, IBM's, Toshiba's, Apple, but the first one was the holy grail....a Trash 80 with a tape recorder and black and white screen. Machine language and Basic. I actually would spend a week typing in code from a magazine for games like Pong and lunar lander. We, the public, let the big guys monopolize...and now, not only do you go to jail if you step over the line, these companies are starting to seize your internet rights (if there ever was any).

I hope groups like Anonymous actually succeed in ensuring Internet freedom.

Apple has had the same problem ever since they first introduced their desktop30 years ago. They sued everyone who remotely stole their ideas. IBM on the otherhand did not bother until they introduced microchanel but in the meantime they took over the Pc world. Apple came close to death until they stole Xerox,s idea for icons and built Lisa. Xerox never went after them but had every right to. Then Microsoft got into self preservation mode and bloated their OS with the registry. It has just caused both companies to descend into a comlex hell of locking their users in. Sadly Google is well on the way to integrating the same paradigm intotheir strategy.

Well, I'm happy to be a nerd. Yes setting up Linux can be a problem but once you (or your nerd friend) get it done you get speed, great functionality, no fences, no viruses, a large community of likeminded freedom fighters. It is not easy. The big boys don't want the margins to drop. They MUST keep the shareholders happy. So companies like Nvidea and MS go out of their way to try to shut Linux out of the consumer goldmine. Actually Apple doesn't engage in this effort, they just continue to do their thing. In fact they realize the benefit of Unix based operating system which they have used now for a long time. Personally I do this - All of my high end stuff(CAD, programming, exploration software, blah, blah) runs off my Ubuntu Linux desktop. All of my communications I do on an Android tablet. I am very happy with that.

What I don't like is not being able to update the software on my I pad 1 .

It used to be a good iPad but now keeps constantly crashing. I've looked on the Internet foe solutions to the crashing problem and found that many other people are having the same problem. People have contacted apple about the problems but apple simply say there is nothing wrong. I've rebooted it , deleted apps and eventually deleted everything and restored it to factory settings but still it keeps crashing

Your 60 baht plain white T-shirts will be shredded and torn apart by viruses so you will have to buy ten of them in the long run plus the headache of having to deal with it. And wouldn't ya want to at least look "cool", even if ya weren't?

I am 67 and was in the computer business since 1972. I was a siesmic programmer, analyst and systems integrator. I built specialized data centers for scientists and engineers, I am an expert on several operating systems, my firstjob was programming assembler for an EMR6130, a machine with 24k of memory comprised of 24 bit words. After that I programmed. Univac 1108 which incidentally was a 2's complement, end around carry, Subtractive adder. A machine that used band gates had core memory,36bit words octal. Later I specialised in Solaris, a unix variant.

Yes sir, I am a nerd and I still play with my toger if my Gf is out :-)

The day I dropped my iPhone was a big disaster.

I thought.

I had bought an ฿8000.- Samsung for my wife's birthday a month or two before so we decided to stick with that for a bit. No way will I be buying a new iPhone now, Samsung does everything I want and I don't have to log in to bloody iTunes when I want to do anything. I have Google maps, which is a big plus for me and that saves me buying a GPSA system that I have to hide (including the mounting bracket) every time I leave the car.

Jailbroke my first Iphone 4 within first hour I had it

Still use it now as a GPS tomtom app works great no SIM card needed and as a jail broken phone all apps I want I can find free somewhere never had a problem with it had it since dec 2009

Only reason I upgraded to the 4s in 2013 was volume on the 4s was louder than the older 4

It's Easyer with apple if you want it different jailbreak it as for risk of damage when dropped both have been used and abused at work dropped more than 50 times between the 2 of them from heights over 1 meter not once a scratch due to my choice of cover the soft silicone style one have protected them both from day one

With a screen protector film on both sides

Did I mention I hated apple products till I had a play around with one in dec 2009 and found out how easy they where to use compared with windows based android ones with their silly menus

apple wins any time with their easy menus and well working functions Jailbroken sure to be able to mod to what I prefer my phone to be a tool for work and a toy for them pesky moments where I want to watch a movie I have plenty ready to go in minutes I can add movies to VLC player or download comedy with mx tube from YouTube

Battery life who cares there's charges in any place you go now a days laptop car planes

I gave up on Apple after I purchased the first I-pod that came with numerous software errors. Returned it to Apple only to be told that the guarantee was invalid as I hadn't purchased it from an "authorised" Apple outlet. Months of tooing and froing across the big pond and still no luck with support of any sort, despite a recall on the same model by Apple. Now, 12/13 years on issue not resolved and they have stopped replying to my letters and are top of my blacklist!

2008bkk, you don't say what model your iPhone is. But check this link out.

http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/ios-7-0-6-fix-battery-drain-warm-iphone-ipad-issue-after-update-1438622

Also, I saw some other links from the fall that say there was a manufacturing error on a small number of phones that affects battery life and if you have one of these phones apple will replace it.

If you've not already, might be worth going to an apple authorized center, assuming you're near one.

Just my opinion understand but it seems that Apple, ever since Steve Jobs stopped running the company and now under its new 'leadership' and the fact they have stopped being the 'little guy with the customer in mind" company that they started out being... Apple has become a giant that now looks at us as being cattle that will go in whatever direction they want us to go in. Their hardware is nothing new anymore and has no identity of its own, their software confines us to ONLY using their stuff ... their way. Their hold on the music industry (iTunes) is beyond silly... but simply rakes in more Dollars which is their only real concern it seems.

Oh the other guys (Microsoft) are not much better, but at least they are not as closed minded as to the needs and wants of us the customers. I have been a Apple user (though refuse to get the new iPhone as it does not have a port for any of the add ons that I got for my iPhone 4) for years. Still have a Power-book (white) running (though I use it only for internet these days and a s a backup for my Dell/Alienware laptop).

To the OP ... switch from Apple. Keep it but use it as a back up or as a second phone.

I know many people with Apple products and they all love them and think they are great but here's the thing that will always stop me buying Apple.

  • Overpriced compared to competitors.
  • Not compatible with other hardware and software. You must use Apple products which is protectionism.
  • Tried to bluetooth my Andriod phone with the GFs Apple. Didn't work. You can bluetooth any 2 phones no matter who makes them unless one of them is Apple.
  • Sent the GF a video clip that works on my laptop, Kindle and phone. Doesn't work on her Apple. Even used software to convert it to an Apple file type.
  • Got a new stereo for her car with USB port. Connected my Sony Walkman MP3 and hey presto we have music. Connected her apple product and nothing, nada, zip. ( This was a good thing as my music rocks and hers sucks biggrin.png )

Apple Sucks. They are the new Microsoft of the tech world. They have gone from being this loveable company into a multi national monster that uses protectionist policies to compete instead of letting the products compete on their merit just as Microsoft did before them.

I am not a tech geek so this is just my opinion from the little I know.

The fact that Apple produces poor quality cables that need to be replaced often and they dont allow transfer of data from 2 apple devices via bluetooth shows what a money grabbing, over rated, overpriced company it is.
