Suthep calls for protection of court, graft buster

3-12-2014-10-12-53-AM1-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) secretary-general Suthep Thaugsuban called on the people to help protect all the state independent agencies as there is growing threat from the redshirts to step up harassments of them in their bid to help caretaker prime minister out of the hands of laws.

In a plea to the people and all civil servants who he said are still serving the illegitimate administration last night, Suthep said it became clear of the increasing threats by what he described “rowdy political hooligans”.

Suthep said these redshirt hooligans are now harassing these agencies which serve as checks and balances on the caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

The independent agencies he referred to are the courts of justice, the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), and the Election Commission. These agencies are key parts of the Constitutional ruling because they will check and balance the working of the Administration.

Suthep cited the rally in front of the head office of NACC yesterday when redshirt protesters burned the coffin they said contained the effigy of the NACC chief Vicha Mahakun and demanded the NACC to stop working and stepping down immediately.

The rowdy redshirts also announced to ask the Senate Speaker to petition the Supreme Court to punish the NACC chief on malfeasance for what they said was unfair handling of the rice cases of PM Yingluck and ex-Premier Thaksin Shinawatra.

The NACC yesterday allowed Yingluck’s lawyers to extend the deadline to defend malfeasance and corruption charges involving the rice sale to China for 15 days instead of her required 45 days. The deadline for the first appearance before the NACC to defend charges ends today.

Suthep said last night that he expected troubles ahead of the second deadline as the redshirts did not want Yingluck to come to defend the charges.

Harassment by Yingluck’s supporters will be escalated particularly on the graft buster and courts of justices, he said.

He then called on the people to get ready and come out as soon as he “blows whistle” again for the final push to bring down the Thaksin regime and all his lackeys from the country.

He also pleaded all civil servants and the military to stop working for the caretaker government reasoning that any longer it is allowed to remain in office, the immense damage to the country will be expected from the irresponsible government.

Its time for an new election date to be set

the date must be at a time when the GET OUT OF JAIL FREE for Taksin has expired

Suthep and Yingluck have both had their 10 mins of glory and should be moved to new pastures

a non political committee can put together what is needed for reform, and a referendum for the country to decide what form these

new reforms must be done by the winning government

Rule No. 1

No person CONVICTED of a criminal offence relating to property or politics can run for government for at least 5 years

Rule No, 2

any politician before the courts can not use the excuse he is a sitting member of parliment so he can not face the courts

Rules No 3 and above to be put on paper by the Thai people

Yaw yawn yawn.

4 months in and still talk of committee's etc, but still no names!

I do agree with your points, but the idea of having a 'non political Committee' is a fanciful idea in Thailand sadly.

When red shirts elect a person and they turn out to be a criminal, others think they are stupid.

When red shirts elect and re-elect proxies for the known criminal, others know they are stupid.

And now the criminal's proxies prove to be as criminal as him, they protest that they shouldn't be prosecuted.

IMHO because they will have to admit that they are really stupid.

PDRC leader signals move to protect key independent public agencies

BANGKOK, 14 March 2014 (NNT) — PDRC core leader Suthep Thaugsuban has urged all PDRC supporters to be ready if Prime Minister Yingluck is ruled guilty in her case with the NACC, as he believes the UDD would try to besiege the independent public agency.

Leader of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee Suthep Thaugsuban stated at the Lumpini Park rally site that all PDRC supporters should prepare themselves if Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is found guilty by the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) — believing that the United Front for Democracy Against Dictatorship (UDD) would immediately rally to her defense against the verdict.

The PDRC leader went on to say that he believed the UDD will target independent public agencies as they have already started their attempts to close down the NACC office.

Mr. Suthep also urged Ms. Yingluck to respect the Constitutional Court’s decision on rejecting the 2 trillion baht mega project budgeting. He said Thailand must be governed by the Rule of Law and that the law must be respected.

have to agree with him, the reds are attacking anyone that abides by the law when it effects the ptp. The reds dont like the truth to come out and for their ptp to be accused of doing anything illegal so they try to belittle and threaten anyone that does their job. As long as we have these totally undemocratic thugs doing the ptp dirty work this country cannot advance. Magistrates and commissions should be able to do their appointed jobs without interference, especially when that interference is based on political bias, this applies to all sides in the country, both reds and yellows.

It's a shame you have chosen to have selective amnesia when it came to protecting the Ballot boxes and the rights of the voters in these very establishments.

That was interference of the highest order!!!

Amended rule 2.

Any person before the court charged with, or on bail for, a criminal offence relating to property or politics is suspended from politics, after a not guilty verdict that suspension is lifted, should they be found guilty rule 1 applies.

Rule 3

No parliamentary immunity.

Rule 4

Mandatory jail time for corruption with confiscation of assets deemed to be obtained from corruption plus interest, no statute of limitations.

Once these 4 rules are in place an election can take place and an independent reform panel can work on reforms in all sectors which when complete is to be taken to the people in a referendum with the results binding on the Govt.

The threat against the independent agencies and the demands that they stop their constitutional obligations to provide legal checks and balances is the very core of what the UDD is about. And it is the very core of the threat to the justice system that has now been waged. The formal request for protection from these agencies themselves has not been heeded from Chalerm, or the police, or from the CMPO. The true colours of Pheu Thai have come through for all to see. There is no light between what they are doing ( evading court appearances, moving to impeach judges ) and what the UDD is doing. No light whatsoever. If these agencies are truly stopped from proceeding, it will be the most serious constitutional threat the country has yet faced.

Scamper, where was the protection FROM the PDRC when they did everything in their power to impede these very institutions?

The PDRC through the constitutional courts have been allowed to protest and break the laws almost with impunity, this is just another case of what appears to be very similar to a dictator talking, if the PDRC were allowed to impede the laws, then the UDD and PTT should be afforded the same courtesy, and spare me this crap, but they'll do the same thing as they did in 2010 when/if they arrive..that's pure speculation nothing more.

I'm neither red nor yellow, they're both every bit as bad as each other, and this is a cock measuring contest between two silly and senile old men, both Thaksin and Suthep should wake the hell up and smell the coffee, and see that neither of them are fit to run Thailand,

Thailand needs a new dynamic young face, a whiter than white, politician who's never been part of any scheme, scam, or has been implicated as being as corrupt as they come, they need a Face/Figure that they can all look up to and admire and respect.

Thaksin and Suthep both need to step away and go and sit as far away from each other as possible, and quit politics and this holier than though crap!!

tools of democracy used as a dictatorhsip - most people know Thaksin has been re-aranging positions for the last 3 years to back him, to face little oppistion.

This article is true, with out the agencies, then enjoy a longer list of corruption, smile and clap with when they enter your restruant and ask for "music MOney"or chinese new year money from indian taylor shops , yay! Charlem says its ok to take donation on chinese new year - welcome to retarded Thailand.

Hence the point of the yellow shirt movemnt, to get rid of the the retards who are becoming increasingly open like this.

Who care about red bull car cop killers with cocane in their bodies, let them leave the country, pay the family 100,000USD awesome, couldn;t be more insulting.

Sounds like most people are either compeltey stupid and have no idea about Thaksins doings, or love to support retards & corruption.

Who can remember the statments made, no no no thailand, we will never try to pass a bill to bring back our leader, ... not even 5 months later .. again typical.

Rice scheme is so benefical, china has bought and ordered so much .. again proven lies

2trillion loans, well theres another 500 million for in bewtween money - You run a country , you can control huge budgets and take cuts pretty easily in many forms.

It amazes me view points. No Thaksin is a great start !

I have never seen a clear policy from Suthep or his group (or the last administration) regarding education, healthcare, law, defence, international relations or economic development. I see plenty of mud slinging instead of tackling the great many issues that this country sadly faces. Wouldn't it be nice if out of 70 million people, just a few with the intelligence, courage and a clear plan would step forward and provide some leadership and firm direction.

Yes, and it seems you've got the blinkers on as well to have a leader of an anti corruption movement as corrupt as they come, how ironic eh?

The people and the TVF members are fully aware Thaksin has also been as corrpupt as they come,

Both cases are like asking the Chinese to lead the effort on Human Rights!!

When red shirts elect a person and they turn out to be a criminal, others think they are stupid.

When red shirts elect and re-elect proxies for the known criminal, others know they are stupid.

Perhaps they are capable of considering more than one factor. Perhaps they reason that although it is true that members of the family that dominate PT have been convicted of various tax evasion and failure-to-disclose offenses, PT has in the past proven more responsive to their needs than any other political party. Perhaps they are just not as interested in the "known criminality" of the party's leaders as they are with the efficacy of the party's policies?

I wouldn't call this stupid - I'd call it pragmatic.

I'd also call it an error of judgment. I don't think things like the rice-scheme or new-car-rebate are very good ideas at all. But questions of policy like this are nothing if not extremely complicated. It is certainly a fact that similar policies in other countries have been supported by prominent individuals that are objectively more intelligent than I. Predicting the effect of any government policy is a problem with so many variables and so many unpredictable factors that there is room for intelligent thinkers to reach different conclusions. It has always been so.

Those who rush to label all Northerners as "stupid" are, at the very least, failing to think seriously about any of this.

Who wonders when Suthep is calling his criminal mob to protect institutions Support or never Charge him and his wrongdoers.... A crow does not chop an eye from other crow. If there would have been a decission against his crominal activities he would have called to block the judges from leaving the court... or cut them water and electricity, because such activities are legal and accepted in Thailand as not against the law... as Long as it is done from the "right" People.. shame!

khun Suthep, I think I understand your point.

but, it is a bit difficult to digest as what PDRC been doing in the last 2 months, was pure harassment of government offices. and now, call for protecting some selected offices ? !

( politics never on a straight line )

He and his "Group" spent how many months harrassing and closing down goverment Offices and now is calling on people to support the only 3 that obviously suipport his group's efforts and tried to hinder the Goverments efforts at every opportunity...

This will end up in violent and deadly clashes between the two sides.

A mini civil war will be fought around the areas of the different independent organization HQs.

"Suthep said it became clear of the increasing threats by what he described “rowdy political hooligans”.

The worst hooligan is Suthep himself.

Really?

Did he burn houses down?

Did he fire grenades?

Did he intimidate?

Did he spray blood and shit to people he does not like?

Did he burn effigies of other people or curse them?

First I wanted to add "dream on"

but I do not think you're dreaming.

If you are not completely unclever than your intention is not good.
