CHIANG MAI: -- What do kindergartners do in their school hours? Besides coloring and counting numbers, these 3-year-olds also sat on top of a deadly crocodile while their teachers snapped a photo.

Sathaporn Kindergarten in Chiang Mai province was forced to apologize after photos of their little kindergartners sitting on top of a crocodile during a field trip were heavily criticized online.

The photos were captured Friday after a performance at a local crocodile farm where visitors were encouraged to pet and take photos with the crocodile, including the 3-year-olds who attended the show without their guardians.

Unlike the online netizens, the school seems to be unaware of the risk they put the students in as the students’ photos were uploaded to the [read more...]

I can't belive this is real ! How on earth did they get so close to crocodiles? Its not as if you can go for a swim with them. The teacher should be put down, infact if it was april 1st i would think its all a big joke !

i took my kid to the crocodile farm, she was scared shitless.

i couldn't have gotten her that close to a crocodile if i had her bound and gagged.

One of the things I like the most about living in Thailand.

No matter where you are in LOS, when you get hungry, you are never too far away from a Thai who is willing to provide you with a quick meal at short notice.

I left Thailand with my kid 1 month ago. After 9 years it was too much for me. The stupidities with children school transport, field trips ("we are back at 04.00 pm". At 07.00 pm still no sign of the double decker. No teacher or driver picking up their cell phone, was a Crocodile farm trip as well..... :)), education system (teacher with a spanking rod during a dance performance at school).

Children disappearing which not even makes the news anymore. TV in the morning with only misery in the Bangkok protest streets. Feel much better now.

This is as dangerous as a kid sitting in the front seat of any car , without safety belt. A national sport here ..... I feel sorry for the kids to have such stupid teachers ....

The person in charge of this field trip should be dispatched to wherever they sent the teacher's aide who tasered a four year old to tease him. If this had happened in my children's school, they would have already been withdrawn, and I would have done whatever I could to see those who were so negligent brought to account.

Before some of you jump in and say but this is Thailand, let me add that my children were educated here, in local not international schools, kindergarten through university. Whenever an issue arose, I made it a point to address it with the concerned authority at their school. Sometimes they learned something new, sometimes I did, and in one instance, we changed schools, but in the end, it was the children who always benefited.

Surprised that no one has suggested that the crocs were drugged

Alternatively a risk management for the Kindergarten, which has just escaped a "massive" liability claim.....

And then they call me Thai bashercoffee1.gif width=32 alt=coffee1.gif>

They don't need you to bash them. Their actions are enough. Don't you like how whoever took the picture was behind plexiglass (note the reflection).

So are you going to trash the Tiger Kingdom in Chiang Mai also? You are in there with them in the cages. Pictures are taken. No humans are mauled or killed. How is this different?

In any civilised country the teachers would be jailed for endangering their charges, and rightly so.

My mind boggles at the utter stupidity of the brainless morons who put these infants in a cage with dangerous animals.

What were they actually thinking...that this is fun...make a good shot....see if the crocodiles will kill an infant??
