One post in Latin removed

English is the only acceptable language, except within the Thai language forum, where of course using Thai is allowed.

I am impressed that a TV poster knows Latin.

What a classy bunch we are.

You are the last of all people that should be saying that!!!

Prayuth speaks the truth. He is right about Jatuporn. He is right about the UDD. Ko Tee has called for secession, for an armed revolt, for plundering the banks, for going after the independent agencies. With a platform like that, how can Prayuth possibly not react ? Suthep is right to say that the PDRC would retreat if the UDD initiated such madness. The UDD want a fight, while the PDRC are prepared to discuss issues. Guns and bombs will never be a match for whistles. And for those that think that Thaksin's police would do anything - anything - just open your eyes and see what they're doing now - or more to the point, not doing. Not only have they shown their true colours time and time again in standing back while grenade attacks were perpetrated on innocent Thai citizens, but they have shown themselves incapable of even collecting traffic tickets. And to Chalerm's police do we entrust the protection of the constitution ? If Suthep had stood up and called for secession, if he had called for the raiding and plundering of the banks, if he called for going after the independent agencies, Prayuth would have had every right to go after him. But it just so happens, that only one party has advocated these utterly inexcusable acts. Only one. And it is straining credibility to suggest that Prayuth's comments are anything but appropriate and timely. He will protect the constitution and the courts. That is his duty. And it's time that Citizen Yingluck did her duty and stood before a microphone and told Ko Tee and Jatuporn in no uncertain terms that these calls are a threat to the rule of law. But for those who still incredulously defend those who call for secession, call for the plundering of national banks, and going after the judicial system - then there's really no hope for you.

Is so sad that you are right. The future doesn't look good for the innocent, I hope our leaders will finally see where this road is going and find an alternative, otherwise there will only be blood.

The police should take the lead here, not the Army, the Army continues to align itself with the PAD/PDRC which creates even more division.

It is the army's responsibility to protect the people, monarchy and it's national security and nothing to do with the police (which is a good thing as they are toothless and run by Thaksin)!!.

It is not a case of the army aligning itself with the PAD/PDRC it is more a case of the PTP/UDD alienating themselves from the army with their call to arms and attacking of the people (for which it is the army's duty to protect them from attacks from external forces).

With Promphan and Ko Tee (especially) threatening the army with a fight then it is hardly surprising that he has an issue with them!!

The PDRC, on the other hand are protesting peacefully and co operating with the army. That's the difference.

"The PDRC, on the other hand are protesting peacefully..."

LOL

Jatuporn had quite a lengthy response to Prayuth's provocations, but I don't read any of it in the media...A lot about Prayuth's bleatings though...Unless I missed it.

Well post it then, lets hear the long response, from your hero. And if not in the media how did you hear it?

It was in a lengthy speech on AsiaUpdate earlier today, but I have no Thai speakers here at the moment, to translate it.

Would be interesting tho'......

One thing I would tell Prayuth if I was Jatuporn..."You got the guns, we got the people".......And not conveniently bunched up at R'song as in 2010, but all over the country, by the millions.

And believe me, Jatuporn could mobilize them, and quickly.

Can't quite get a handle on, why all this over-the-top vitriol directed at Jatuporn, even personal, now that he is head of one of the largest voting blocks in the country......

The phrase comes up, "Me thinks they protest too much"....The PAD-Dem's are obviously spooked. I wonder what their main worry is.

How convenient you are the only one to see this on Asia update.

Your admiration for this lunatic is obvious, as well as your hope for a bloody civil war. I for one hope your sick fantasies do not come true.

The UDD represents democracy, one vote-one person, if they use violence-it is to that end. the PAD/PDRC on the other hand-which is what the military is aligning itself with-are fascists, they want to end democracy in this country and have it ruled by an elitist dictatorship, the fascists are trying to create divisions.

Was that the same one vote one person system which the UDD members used to vote Jatuporn their leader.....?

Sorry, what was that? He wasn't voted in as leader, he was appointed by his friends from the inner circle of the UDD - how very democratic of them.

Looks like the PAD and UDD both like a good dictatorship, so long as their man is on top eh?

UDD represent democracy - yeah right !

But he warned Im not interested as to whether they have strategies or not it is a question of whether someone breaches the law. I wonder how many cases of the UDD leader had in court now.

The more Prayuth speaks, the more I like him. I wish there was an all Prayuth channel on tv. I wish there was a channel that did nothing but list the crimes, lies, bombings, shootings, unconstitutional acts and quotes from Jatuporn, Nattawut and the UDD. The good people of this country deserve to know what has been unleashed on them. The taxpayers should launch a class action suit against all of them, Thaksin and Yingluck for outright theft of their taxes paid. This government has misspent billions of baht, it doesn't matter to their voters, because very few of them pay taxes. The way to correct this is to shut of the flow of money, if the middle class ever realize that they have the power this Thaksin led army of thugs will wither away, and when the money does stop Jatuporn will be the first one out.

Wow....

Either the above comments are agenized PAD-Dem vitriol with no linkage to reality, and the Electoral Majority is blind by the millions, or vice-versa.

Considering the fear displayed by the PAD-Dems in trying to nullify the current election, I hazard to guess that "vice versa" is the operative phrase.

You decide.

You sir, obviously cannot read and anyone supporting you is as foolish as you and all dare tread to such wavering paths. DEMOCRACY is freedoms that VOTING in Thailand under this unscrupulous regime does not engage in. BUYING votes is not democracy. Why are you on such a bandwagon for this twaddle? Is it that you benefit from corruption too?

Count me as one of the 'foolish'. The person you malign is obviously very astute, when it comes to his/her 'reading'.

At risk of going slightly off-topic, let me say this about that, considering you brought it up.

For all its' imperfections, a majority vote is still the best way to select who governs........The election and voting in Thailand although not perfection, is generally considered OK.

The PAD-dem's will often try a holier-than-thou approach to vote buying, expressed with self-righteous indignation, but nobody buys that line.....Vote buying crosses all political divides and is exercised by everyone equally. To such a degree, that studies have shown that all the sides engaged in it cancel each other out.

It has also been shown, that electoral results would not have been different without vote buying...It is a despicable practice but not a game changer with respect to electoral results.

You certainly do like using the word FACIST don't you?

Fascist militarism, going back from the time of Pridi to the present fascist militarists and their fascist militarist advocates and supporters.

How about Villages of Intimidation where supporting a colour other than that of the self appointed can you get you in serious doo doo? Perhaps payment is not necessary in all cases, unwritten rules of who you are allowed to vote for whispered not so quietly in the streets and noodle shops.

A sick fantasy or reality? You decide :)

A number of them are. Exactly how many is hard to say, whether it's in the streets, the society in general, or at any given website forum. As to the latter, one can read posts to determine who or which, and that likely would be an individual matter.

All this BS about democracy within political parties is just that BS, as in how very undemocratic X, Y or Z wasn't voted into that position, how do you know there wasn't a vote behind closed doors? How do you know it's not done through succession? Or done through recommendations etc within the power circle?

Who really cares if Juttaporn wasn't elected into that position, he's in it, and he's a" nut job"..that's enough to be worrying about rather than the insignificant point of how he got there, if his predecessor earmarked him as the next leader, then that's their call.

If the UDD/PTP are unhappy about it, I'm sure all the reds in their own party will be crying foul!! But the only ones who are making it a bigger deal than it is, are some disgruntled yellow Suthepians..

Who voted Suthep to lead the current Anti Government campaign? Isn't that not kind of the same thing?

What has any of this got to do with the army? Maybe the army should be renamed 'the police' as they seem to think their job is what the police should be doing. The army should worry about doing the job they're paid for and not trying to usurp the police - as ineffective as they might be.

Here we go again another round of venom spitting, bags full of words, lorry loads. In the end everyone knows they will have to sit down together and reach a compromise. They are an artistic folk full of drama and passion, they need the theatrics first, when they have worn out the stage with stamping and their arms grow tired with waving the banners of whatever just cause they think they are supporting in the name of humanity they will become pragmatic.........."to save the nation".........or whatever.

The courts confirm this which is why they are allowed to continue protesting peacefully!!! No???

Nothing characterizes the courts more for what they are, than when they came up with that idiocy about peaceful protesters.

I can understand PAD-Dem efforts trying to normalize the abnormal, with respect to the judiciary. This goes all the way back to Post-2006 coup judicial decisions self-servingly designed by the coup-makers, to demonize Thaksin.

In the face of reality to the contrary, of which this 'peacefull protester" thing is a blatant example, is a mighty hard sell. Only the political side who runs to the courts every day, in part to exercise Opposition outside Parliament, believe this nonsense of judicial normalcy..........But they are fortunately the minority.

You and your likes and supporters are truly warped in your thinking. The RTA has taken no sides that i have seen. True, they have post and checkpoints at or near PDRC rallies. But isn't that where all of the attacks have been?

The RTA job is not to protect democracy. Thailand only thinks democracy is about voting anyway so its not real. The RTA is about protecting the thai people. PDRC AND REDS alike. They are about protecting Thailand from people who want it divided like UDD is talking about. Maybe, if the UDD didnt express so much violence and reverance for bloodshed then the RTA would not be speaking so harshly to them. Lastly, the RTA protects the king. Not the man in Dubai who wants this title.

You Reds keep speaking about the elitists yet the people you are supporting are more elite than any person in Bkk. You claim their riches has given them power yet all of the Shin family and ALL the PTP leaders are much more richer than the average multi-millionare even in Bkk. Thaksin may have been poor before but he married into money. He did not work hard for it. Maybe you should re-evaluate who you are supporting because your idea and ideals on all this are twisted.

Like a lot of the folks on TVF I have lived here in Thailand for many years. It is very rare to see an individual in the position of authority to publicly stand and speak the truth with convition and without concern of the new prevailing political correctness nonsense. It is refreshing to see Gen Prayuth tell it like it is. He reminds me of Gen Douglas MacArthur who said I am concerned for the security of our great nation; not because of any threat from without, but because of the insidious forces working from within.

I wonder who the PAD-Dem hardcore leaders are?

I notice in PAD-Dem pronouncements and media, all the leaders of the UDD/RS's are 'hard core'.....Thereby trying to attach a stigma of anarchism.....

Other than being disrespectful of a huge swath of the Thai electorate, it is grossly biased reporting.

Makes one thankful for Electoral Democracy---again.....such biased smoke has never affected the electorate, to my admiration. Electoral results both past and the current one, which scares the bejeebers out of the PAD-dem's, prove it.

Millions of people voted for Yingluck. A few thousand would be willing to take up arms. It's fantasy that the majority of people who voted for Yingluck would be prepared to take up arms in her support. The red shirt support is way down on what it was in 2010.

Pity and and no condolences to the few thousand if indeed they take up arms..
