Dear members,

I will be travelling to Hong Kong. I was thinking of applying for a new tourist visa since my old one will expire soon. (Aka, visa run)
Is it possible to obtain a double-entry tourist visa in Hong Kong? How long does the process take and what are the costs? I have a fair amount of tourists visa's in my passport. One double entry, one Non Immigrant B and some in and out stamps
from Cambodia. Would this be a problem?

Al your help is much appreciated!

Thanks.

No and unless you are a HK resident it may be difficult to secure any form of visa.

Understood, so this basically means I just need to forget applying for a visa in HK.

They will do a single entry tourist visa. But you will need to show a ticket out of Thailand to get it.

Cost will be the equivalent of 1000 baht. See consulate website for more info: http://www.thai-consulate.org.hk/web/3015.php

Hmmm...I'm flying to HK this Wednesday with the purpose of getting a single entry visa. I was sure I'd need a return ticket to Thailand but I was unaware that I would need to show proof of a ticket out of Thailand. Given that the stated rules and regs at embassies/consulates are sometimes enforced and other times not, does anybody have an experience in HK have of not having to show a flight out of Thailand ?

Much thanks.

According to the "latest reports" page on TV, a double entry tourist visa to LOS is available at the Hong Kong Thai embassy.

All 3 of the "latest reports" there support this. Even the 2 that are listed under single entry.

BTW i recently recieved a double entry at Hanoi. Earlier reports from last year had indicated this was possible, although the "latest reports" page has failed to keep up to speed with that.

The Hong Kong reports say that a 2 entry may be possible but you need two tickets out of Thailand to get them.

And if I recall correctly it is the same for Hanoi.

Not all reports make it onto the reports page because they are in a topic that are not about that location or off topic replies.

It seems to me the two Hanoi listings under "single entry" are:

1. identical, hence redundant

2. evidence that double entries are available in Hanoi, yet there is no listing for Hanoi under "double entries"

3. evidence that triple entries are available in Hanoi, yet there is no listing for Hanoi or any location in the near vicinity of Thailand re triple entries

What impression is the casual observer of the page to get, if he does not read the threads listed there? That Hanoi only offers single entries & no place offers a triple?

This info re Hanoi has been available since last March.

I note that the consulate in HK requires a copy of HK Identity Card for TR visa applicants which tends to suggest that the pool is correct. See link in ubonjoe's post #5

They're fairly useless...at least some of the staff. I applied and the counter lady looked at my passport, saw i once did an extension in Pattaya, then mumbled some trash to her other staff, and said 'i think its better if u just go and get a stamp on arrival.'. No reason to deny a 60-day but for her own opinion.

Dd you meet the Embassy's stated requirements for a tourist visa including possession of a Hong Kong/Macau I.D.Card.

If not, the refusal was appropriate and justified.

News to me. Its been a few years but I often obtained triple entry tourist visas at the Royal Thai Consulate in Hong Kong once I gave up my Thai work permit. And I never disclosed to them that I had a HKID#. There were a few nasty old beeyotches working the counter and I was occasionally unlucky enough to have to deal with one of them. But I was never refused at least one entry. And there were pages of them in the book.

I did the same in 2009, I just bought a ticket to Malaysia beside my ticket to Thailand (intended to use 1 month later), in true I have never used this ticket to Malaysia. In airport they always asked about my return ticket. Have one ... just in case!! whistling.gif

Just returned from HK a few days ago and got a single entry visa. No fuss and no muss. $300HK and they don't accept baht.

Did you fulfill the basic requirement of showing "A copy of Hong Kong/Macau I.D.Card"?

http://www.thai-consulate.org.hk/web/3015.php?s=4252

Or as a visitor to Hong Kong was a foreign passport (e.g. USA) considered as the same as "Hong Kong ID" for a foreigner in Hong Kong?

I doubt that of all those who have reported recieving a tourist visa to Thailand in Hong Kong, that none of them submitted a foreign passport as their "Hong Kong/Macau I.D". Until this thread i have never seen the issue even raised in any threads related to Thai visas in Hong Kong. And apparently that rule has been in effect since at least as far back as 2010: " LastUpdated : 2010-12-24 07:45:58"

"The Royal Thai Consulate-General reserves the rights to request for additional documents or to have an interview in persons."

Additional documents. Or alternate or substitute documents?

The Hong Kong ID card is not mandatory. Many non residents of Hong Kong have gotten visas there.

I would say than number 2 on the webpage you posted a link to would indicate that.
