Pattaya police chief spending 6 million baht of own money to expand HQ

PATTAYA: -- Pattaya’s police chief is spending 6 million baht of his own money to upgrade the small, shabby Soi 9 city police station.

Pol. Col Supachai Puikaewkam said he consulted with his wife, Roi-et Deputy Gov. Juriporn Sinthuphrai before deciding to dip into his own pocket to revamp that station, which is so small officers must work in the parking lot and even small motorbikes often cannot find a place to park.

“I worked as a deputy suppression superintendent here, so I know the root of various problems the station has,” the police chief said.

“The police station is small and some areas are not even in order. I will solve this issue by using my own money to renovate the station but those wanting to donate can do so,” Supachai said. “The superintendent’s office will be moved to the second floor of the seaside Rak Vinai building and will be bigger to accommodate citizens wanting to visit or file a direct complaint, as well as make them feel at home and not nervous.”

He said another floor will be added to increase the number of offices. A patrol-officers room and press-briefing room also will be added.

“The most important room is the one-stop service room downstairs, where we will add systems from Kasikorn Bank. I want citizens using the services to be impressed and get all services at one place.”

Oh, c'mon posters, let's not be negative and suspicious all the time...........give the man some credit.

He doesn't need CREDIT when he can spend 6 million of his own cash

My head would be spinning if this was any Jurisdiction but one in Thailand.

If My Chief or Sheriff did that we would have that many Internal Inquiries commenced ....Ah Pattaya you have gotta Luv it

This "Top-Cop" investing his own money is a business decision. The 6 million baht is an investment. The "business" will grow for sure based on this investment. Smart cop.

Will the people who build this receive kickbacks and will sub-standard building products be used, meaning (as per usual practice) the rebuilding will ACTUALLY cost 25%, ie 6,000,000-4.500,000=1,500,000???cheesy.gif

I think the important part of the interview is highlighted.

I am guessing there will be an orderly queue at the office with donations. Many would see it as a worthwhile investment.

What happens if the donations oversubscribe the cost of construction? Refunds? cheesy.gifcheesy.gifwink.png

OMG.... all the "Nay Sayers" are crawling out from under their rocks again.

Have they ever considered that the Generous, Community-minded Cop might have come from a wealthy family? there are plenty of legitimate reasons as to how he accumulated the funds but the "Knockers and Nay-Sayers" feel compelled to run-off at the mouth with their unfounded and possibly Libelous allegations.

Maybe that is how he got the money, simply by suing those who throw muck without any proof?

They guy is making a magnificent gesture, why don't we congratulate him, instead of making wild allegations and attempting a Character Assassination?

Just wait for the raids to comefacepalm.gif

A police "associate" said this chief is really making changes and making everyone work, he was hoping it will last only for 3 months, but by the look of things will last much longer

s and attempting a Character Assassination?

If he came from a wealthy family then why would he take on such a low paid job !,, but there again wasn't Thaksin a policeman and he is now worth billions

I'd be very interested to know how this Policeman has 6 mill. baht, surplus to his own requirements, in order to refurbish his place of work??!! Unheard of anywhere, I would suspect???!!!

Unheard of anywhere, I would suspect???!!!

Possibly, but didn't Thaksin get his start as a policeman? And then there's Lord Peter Wimsey and Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley, 8th Earl of Asherton. And don't forget Bruce Wayne, American billionaire, industrialist, and philanthropist ... not exactly a policeman but he did catch bad guys and drive the Bat Mobile.

I'm sure that there's no word in the Thai language for "Philanthropy".....there's certainly no word for this in the Thai police vocabulary!!

So that is where all the money from fines is located? Really a good idea to invest his money to improve the HQ, so the service is better and quicker for everyone to pay future fines?
