NACC, GLO offices hit by M79 grenades

BANGKOK: -- Two M79 grenades fell on the roofs of the head offices of the National Anti-Corruption Commission and the Government Lottery Office in Nonthaburi late Monday night, police said.

Witnesses told police that they heard three explosions at near NACC and GLO offices in Sanam Bin Nam area in Nonthaburi at about 10:30 pm.

Explosive ordnance disposal officers checked the scene and found traces of two grenades. The first one landed on the glass roof of the NACC, causing a hole. The other one landed on the concrete roof of the GLO office.

Police believe the attackers want to fire the grenades at a red-shirt group rallying in front of the NACC but miscalculated the projectile.

Is this still part of the Reconciliation And Unity initiative?

They never announced that this phase had ended, and last time I heard it was "on track." I get confused easily in my twilight years, and I wish they would keep me updated on these matters more.

There seems to be a group in Thailand that is hell bent on antagonizing the situation in both camps , perhaps DSI "T" could spend some time in trying bring these gentle folk to court instead trying to pin the tail on the donkey's, and then, perhaps the people are well known to the authorities , it is time some semblance of law and order was established , so that tourists will return to Thailand in the future.bah.gif

NACC comes under M 79 grenade attack

3-25-2014-10-14-27-AM-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- Armed men fired three M 79 grenades into the compound of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) Monday night, one striking at the deck of its building, and the other two missing and landing at the adjacent building of the Government Lottery Office instead.

The attack came as the caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra was mandated by the NACC to defend malfeasance and alleged corruption charges in connection with the rice sale scandal on March 31.

The first grenade landed on the deck of Building 2 of the NACC casing damages to its roof and glass panes.

The other two grenades landed on the roof of the Government Lottery Office building which is nearby. One explosion caused a large hole on the glass roof.

Nonthaburi provincial police arrived along with the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) police to inspect the two government offices last night.

In both attacks, no one was injured.

By Tuesday morning, EOD police were still at the scene to collect evidence of the attack.

The NACC head-office on the Sanambin Nam road in Nonthaburi is still sealed off by a hundred redshirt supporters of the caretaker prime minister today.

They vowed to lay siege to the NACC head-office until end of this month when caretaker Prime Minister is summoned to the NACC to hear charges.

They also said they would intercept the NACC to investigate Ms Yingluck with demand for all members of the NACC board to step down claiming of unfair treatment of the prime minister.

Earlier the ruling Chart Thai party also rejected to accept any ruling by the independent organization, including the NACC and court of justice. It also advised Ms Yingluck not to report to the NACC end of this month to hear charge.

But NACC has made clear that if she refuses to appear again, then legal charges will be brought against her with the attorney-general.

Any truth in the story that the Foreign Minister has asked all foreign embassies to assure potential tourists that Bangkok is quite safe, in fact as safe as Thailand's roads ?

the article was up in here at the start of all the violence, the car was pulled over by the police but they let them go because they said they didnt do anything and they had various weapons in the car yet were not charged with anything, go figure but I am sure you are well aware of that, easier to deny isnt it........ just look at them releasing koyee so he could run to Myanmar, they knew he was involved in the shootings but let him go because he was a red and he is still walking around.

is it the red shirts normal method of intimidation or are the yellows practicing their aim for March 31st. Yingluck will now claim it is not safe for her to attend.

CTP have now also put themselves into a possible impeachment position.

Well done CTP, you now may share the same fate as YL and the PTP.

What do these people think will happen when they are impeached?... Just go on and continue with their duties ignoring the fact they are suspended?

The army will remove them and pout them in prison for rebellion. So they can scream 'coup coup' to the world.

The idiocy that I thought was maxed out continues to spew forth in ever hilarious quantities.

Why don't you get off your lazy uninformed ass and go look for yourself . . . or if it's not spoonfed to you from the Thaksin propaganda book, it doesn't count?

But NACC has made clear that if she refuses to appear again, then legal charges will be brought against her with the attorney-general.

She would be compelled to appear sometime in the next 40 years if the case proceeds as usual. Her nephew will be the czar of Thaksinland at that time, charges will be dismissed because the farmers all died.

Grenade attack aimed at intimidating NACC: secretary general

BANGKOK: -- The secretary general of the National Anti-Corruption Commission expressed his belief that M79 grenades that fell on the roofs of the NACC and Government Lottery Office were aimed at intimidating the anti-graft agency.

The grenade attacks happened late Monday night. Police said the bombs might be aimed at intimidating a red-shirt group rallying in front of the NACC.

But NACC secretary general Sansern Polchiak said the bombs were definitely aimed at pressuring the NACC. The NACC has given caretaker prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra until Saturday to defend herself in the rice-pledging case before the NACC will decide whether to indict her or not.

Those grenades were probably launched by the 100 protesters outside the NACC.

If the police catch the perpetrators, then they won't be reds, if they don't catch anyone, they were reds.
