I would like to feed the garden birds. Does anyone know of a way to do this whilst keeping the ants from partaking?

Thanks in advance

Suspect using a raised bird feeder on pole and use the normal inverted cone metal that many homes use to stop termites from entering? But if in city you might want to reconsider as many Thai are not happy with attracting birds since bird flu become an issue.

Buy the bottom of a large garden pot.........fill it with water......set a bowl filled with seed (or whatever) in the middle of the water-filled-plate. The birds will love you for the water.....and the food!

Hang a single ripe banana by a string from a tree. If ants are a problem, attach a small piece of cotton cloth high above the banana. Lightly spray the cloth with a bit of insecticide....or dab on some motor oil.

We live in a very rural area, about 40acres and only7 houses on it. What type of shops sell the metal cones?

Thank you for your reply.

make a normal bird feeding table on a pole,

2 " below the table part, coat the pole in grease, that will stop them from climbing up,

So far I have had no luck in finding a bird feeder here in Thailand

In fact I can tell that the shop attendants are snickering behind my back at the crazy farang who wants to feed a bird that is not a chicken

What do all these people who keep birds in cages use? Perhaps try the shops that sell the cages ? Maybe they hab! wink.png

Going back to the original question.... make up a borax and sugar solution and place at bottom of the pool... in a container of some kind, that should get rid of the ants for months! thumbsup.gif
