AIS just updated all sims to be 3g, and u will be charged

We called to complain. Not their fault, it is done automatically, they said. So in order to opt out, you have to add more money into the account to change promotion.

My phone is a standard 600 baht Nokia. Not a smart phone, it cannot do 3g.

I am pissed!

You guys better check your balance and complain! They do not give refunds. angry.gif

99 baht for 90 mb per month.

Anyways, after calling them for the third time, they agreed to reverse the charges. But you had to chose a promotion in order to cancel the monthly 3g charge.

I would ask all members who have not had 3g activated, to read those sneaky thai languaged sms from them.

Just noticed I'm getting messages that I have free 3G internet which I used for 5 minutes. But now just noticed that after loading 100 baht on the SIM of the phone yesterday that it's nearly finished after a few phone calls and 1 SMS. What a rip off !

Think there must be something more to the problem than stated. When I first got AIS years ago I went into one of their offices and chose a billing plan that suited my relatively low usage, so whenever I top up, the balance is good for up to a year. Just checked my current balance and it's pretty much as expected. No "rip off" or unexplained charges. Obviously I'm using a pre-pay account.

My AIS card was not converted automatically.

I did it manually. Can not remember that I was charged for that.

The 99 baht for 90 mb per month is likely of the many data packages,

I have not booked a package and there is no deduction and no obligation to book a data package.

I think you are lost in translation.

Looks like you are on a postpaid plan?

I have prepaid, so maybe completely different scenario.

Many people also get caught out having Email on their mobile. this uses the internet component of your plan or non plan. So if you have a plan even on pre paid 'promotion' it is included. If you have no plan or promotion if the email is there it will eat away your money.

ANY INTERNET USING APPLICATION will cost you whether you look at the thing or not as it runs in the background chewing away at YOUR MONEY
