Why do so many posters here slag off Thailand and Thai people, and continue to live here ?

I got ripped off by an English guy before, it still bugs me, but I am not gonna say ALL English people are bad.

I really believe most posters here don't live in Thailand, there is no way they can be so unhappy and remain here ...............impossible.

Sounds like you chose not to stay in Thailand, can you tell me why ?

Some people come to Thailand and complain about Thais, and some people come to Thaivisa and complain about the posters.

I find the former is more useful, i have learned something about Thailand here.

As to why they stay here, they were outsmarted by some upcountry sao suay with no more than a P2 education, they invested the sale of their 2 up 2 down in some shithole such as Donnie in an upcountry farang mansion, they post on the internet about how great it is to live in the back of beyond surrounded by the wife and and her worthless family.

They stay because the cost of a ticket home is beyond their limited financial means.

I will venture a guess.

Many expats are stuck here in Thailand now, they don't have a good opportunity to go back to their homeland.

If they can go back at all, they will have it much worse.

So they complain about where they are and can't move on to somewhere better.

Because middle aged to dinosaur aged farangs love to cry, whine, and complain about stuff, irrespectivelly of country they reside in. Even when they live in the garden of eden or Utopia, they would still find shit to complain about. That's it. Truth. Done.

Ummm… I rarely complaint about Thais here, but think and make a lot of complaints in reality.
Live in Thailand and planned no where else, is my own country and I am addicted to Thai food.

Thais, many are disrespect to rules and laws, really amazing.
Enjoy being shit, cheating, corruption with no regret.
Intend to be dumped and being beggar with no shame.

People come to this country expecting to mould it - or at least their little corner of it - into something resembling home but with more (accessible) younger women and hotter weather. Failing to achieve that is enough of an annoyance in and of itself but I think the most likely reason these guys bitch and moan is that a lot of them are at or approaching an age where things are failing physically.

Ailments, aches and pains serve to magnify the frustrations that wouldn't have registered for most of these guys when they were young

The key to a relaxed life here - I think - is to keep yourself in shape. Eat right, exercise a lot and take care of yourself. Still go out on the lash every now and again but bin the cigs, chuck the daily full English, each less starchy food and pound it at the gym 4 times a week.

The temptation to let yourself go because you believe - erroneously, I might add - that the local women don't care if you're a fat, sweaty porker with bacon grease oozing out of your pores is a powerful one indeed but it's one you need to resist.

Respect yourself and others will follow

I am not lucky enough to live there but I do go there at least once a year. I don't really encounter half the stuff people whinge about. I guess that's because I'm always in holiday mode.

Some people actually live here for their Wife's sake..........but the Op thinks everything revolves around his point of view.
