Hi all,

I'm trying to get "The Pru" to pay my annuities into my Thai bank account, but they are telling me that I need the banks IBAN number.

When I opened the account the bank gave me details to use for international money transfers, including a Swift code, but, they did not include an IBAN number. I have made transfers from my UK account to my Thai account using the Swift code and account number, so why can't The Pru?

Has anyone else out there had this problem and what did you do to solve it?

Thailand banks, like for example, those in the USA, do not use IBAN numbers or the IBAN system, and so no-one in Thailand will know what they are or have any way of responding. Thai banks simply don't have IBAN numbers.

You should inform the Prudential of this and ask them to use the SWIFT system.

You can find information on which countries do and do not use the IBAN number system online (Google it), and send the Prudential the information in an email with quotes and a link to prove that you are correct. At least this will get a dialogue started.

You will have no success unless you get them to use SWIFT code.

Partington,

I did Google it and from what I found it's only European banks and a few others that use the IBAN system.

From one Old Git to another,

Yes, you would think that The Pru would know that, especially as they do have offices in Thailand.

I'll be calling them again tomorrow to put them straight.

Thanks for your replies gents.
