Lampang Police imposing traffic controls

LAMPANG, 16 April 2014 (NNT) -- Police in Lampang are manning the highways to prevent traffic problems, as large numbers of people return home from the northern celebration of the Songkran Festival.

Key intersections on the Asia highway such as Na Guam and Pak Neau in the municipal area have been under the control of traffic police since early morning, to help lessen the log jam of vehicles, on the highway linking big cities in the North with Bangkok.

Police expect many more vehicles on the highway late in the day as people try to get back to Bangkok to resume their working life on Thursday after the five day holiday.

Motorists are warned to drive carefully and with patience during the heavy traffic. Road checks have been set up on key inter-provincial highways to monitor and guarantee safety for drivers and passengers.
