UDD plans another mass rally in Bangkok



BANGKOK: -- The United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship or the red-shirt movement will stage another mass rally in Bangkok one day ahead of the Constitutional Court is due to rule whether caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is guilty of abuse of authority or not for the removal of Mr Thawil Pliensri as the secretary-general of the National Security Council two years ago.

UDD advisory chairwoman Mrs Thida Thavornseth yesterday (Tuesday) called on red-shirt followers in upcountry provinces to get prepared for travelling to Bangkok to join the rally which she wished to be the biggest ever staged by the UDD.

“If our numbers are more than those of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee, it will demonstrate to Suthep Thaugsuban, the PDRC secretary-general, so that he will not become so arrogant,” said Mrs Thida, adding that this would be an appropriate time for all red shirts to come out.

UDD chairman Jatuporn Promphan, meanwhile, vowed that the red-shirt followers would not return unless they win the battle.

Robert, it's no good trying to put us off the scent by referring to yourself in the third person, and as we all know, whichever guise you take on, you still come on here spouting absolute nonsense.

We are all fully aware of your stance, so regardless of any spin you attempt to put on it, or whatever name you want to call these thugs, they are what they are, and they will be brought to justice in the end.

You of course, like your paymaster, have no time for the judiciary, unless it happens to be ruling in your favour. We can only hope that Amsterdam will also be dealt with according to the law for such clear support for separatism in Thailand - excuse me for the third person reference.

Furthermore, consider for a moment, Ko Tee, a clear example of your style of Red shirt democracy who, having received initial implicit support for his calls for secession by the caretaker government, now finds that he has been abandoned by his and your beloved leader, Thaksin, in the same way that all others will inevitably be abandoned when this is all over.

Thaksin assumed the mantle of the exiled leader of the Red shirt government which has stripped the nation of its assets, and in doing so, has clearly betrayed, and will continue to betray, many of those who placed so much trust in him. There is nothing democratic about the way the retiring government has governed this country, and there is nothing democratic about the way that their followers have attacked the peaceful (yes, peaceful) demonstrators.

So, if you insist on continuing to refer to your people as pro-democratic, then I suggest that you go and take some time to find out what democracy actually means.

I saw some of the last gathering on AsiaUpdate, and noticed stage leadership holding up some cards, and the crowd doing likewise.

The UDD is NOT pro-democracy unless democracy means Thaksin dictatorship. They are massing in Bangkok to support Yingluck, not democracy. They support Thaksin, as you have stated many times, and not democracy. The UDD is a armed wing of Thaksin's PTP puppet government and used to intimidate the courts. (publishing judges phone numbers and addresses, blockading courts and threatening to arrest judges, launching grenades at the NACC, etc.). If the rural people of the north and northeast weren't so wedded to the personality cult of Thaksin, they would see how he uses/abuses them. Until the rural people create their own, grass-roots political organization and leaders, they will be exploited by either the old amart or the new amart (Thaksin). If the rural people of the north and northeast weren't so wedded to the personality cult of Thaksin, they would see how he uses/abuses them. Until the rural people create their own, grass-roots political organization and leaders, they will be exploited by either the old amart or the new amart (Thaksin). PTP need the perception that the unity of past years continues - both to be able to threaten and intimidate the people of Thailand generally and oppressed those in their non democratically created feudal estates.
