Pheu Thai to meet on Chaikasem’s Section 7 proposal tomorrow

BANGKOK, 16 April 2014 (NNT) - Pheu Thai Party Spokesperson Prompong Nopparit announced his party would meet tomorrow on the proposal of Justice Minister Chaikasem Nitisiri to request His Majesty the King to rule on Section 7 of the constitution should the court decide to disqualify Miss Yingluck Shinawatra as caretaker Prime Minister.

Mr. Prompong explained that the party is still firm on its view that the best solution to the ongoing political conflict is to hold the general election. He further stated that Minister Chaikasem’s proposal is simply another personal opinion that aims at avoiding a possible political vacuum. The Spokesman denied the rumor that the proposal was the party’s last attempt to cling on to the administrative power.

He also touched upon a proposal by a group of people led by a former military leader to ask Privy Council President General Prem Tinsulanonda to request royal advice on an exit to the current conflict in the nation. He said such an approach is only a shortcut with implications to topple the current administration and establish a new government without listening to the people’s voice.

Mr. Prompong questioned the motive behind the proposal and the legality of the approach, while expressing his belief that General Prem would not agree to the idea.

Abhisit dismisses Article 7 as not possible for now

BANGKOK: -- Democrat party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva dismissed as not possible that Article 7 of the Constitution could be exercised for the appointment of a non-elected prime minister as proposed by a group of senior technocrats or by caretaker Justice Minister Chaikasem Nitisiri.

He said that there is no political vacuum for the time being because caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has not yet been found guilty by the Constitutional Court and has to leave the office as a result of the ruling and hence the proposal to exercise Article 7 is out of the question.

Over the weekend, a group of senior technocrats led by former supreme commander General Saiyud Kerdphol calling themselves “Man of the State” group proposed that General Prem Tinsulanonda, in his capacity as the statesman, should assume the role to mediate the political impasse by exercising Article 7 to name a non-elected prime minister in case Ms Yingluck is made to leave the office by the court’s ruling.

But General Prem is yet to reply to the proposal.

Regarding the meeting with the Election Commission on April 22, Abhisit insisted that the party would send a representative to attend.

All of these public speculations succeed only in undercutting the Constitutional Court's upcoming ruling. The court will issue a ruling that they deem appropriate, as is their constitutional role. People should simply wait for that ruling. And most importantly, once it has been made, endeavour to adhere to it.

Yep, btw... There is only barely a month left until the amnesty bill can be reintroduced again, is there???

So let's make it simple:

If this so called Election-Collection thing goes through, Thaksin wins, and Pheu Thai acts, amnesty bill in the game again, business as usual, correct???

No....

That amnesty bill is dead.

The government is only in caretaker mode and can not raise it again. They can only run the ministries and can not invoke anything new.

By the time elections are held, the bill will have expired fully.

That is basically the end of it.
