Statement by Matthew Miller, Spokesperson on the Dissolution of Move Forward Party
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE Office of the Spokesperson For Immediate Release STATEMENT BY MATTHEW MILLER, SPOKESPERSON August 7, 2024 On the Dissolution of Move Forward Party in Thailand The United States is deeply concerned by Thailand’s Constitutional Court ruling today ordering the dissolution of the Move Forward Party and the banning of 11 of its leaders from politics. This decision disenfranchises the more than 14 million Thais who voted for the Move Forward Party in the May 2023 election and raises questions about their representation within Thailand’s electoral system. The Constitutional Court’s decision also jeopardizes Thailand’s democratic progress and runs counter to the aspirations of the Thai people for a strong, democratic future. Inclusive political participation strengthens social cohesion and is a critical component of resilient national institutions. The United States does not take a position in support of any political party, but as a close ally and friend with deep and enduring ties, we urge Thailand to take actions to ensure fully inclusive political participation, and to protect democracy and the freedoms of association and expression. Kamala Harris's VP Choice: Did She Make Her First Major Campaign Mistake?
He served 27 years in the National Guard - that means that when he left he would have been 45 or so. I somehow doubt that at that age he was likely to have been considered for deployment. However, I am sure that you have the links to back that all up... -

Government Okays 433M Baht for Tourism Promotion
And where will most of this Baht 433 million go? Into the pockets of various officials. After yesterday's termination of the MFP, and the international media attention it has been given, not even Baht 433 billion is going to help Thailand's reputation. -

Move Forward Party dissolved, leaders banned for 10 years - video
The blatant, outright in-yo-face lies and corruption of this place is impressive. Treats it's citizens as fools, which is mostly true...but treating the rest of the world as such is a bad strategy. Thailand will never be a world player and will remain a 3rd World Banana Republic until this BS changes. -

Quality tourist here. Where is my red carpet and smiles?
A quality tourist is one that comes to Thailand, spends money, enjoys the food and scenery, doesn't get sloppy drunk and make a nuisance of himself, and respects the culture no matter what he sees, then goes home. I thought you lived here but maybe not? If you do, this doesn't make you a tourist. There isn't any red carpets put down for anyone unless they have a lot of money to throw around to other rich people. Coming from the US, the conditions of some shops and restaurants are appalling but this is still a developing country suppressed by others. If you don't like eating at those places, try others, because people are pigs worldwide, even in the US, as I've seen. Some have good food but terrible sanitary conditions. Meat is left out on tables in supermarkets, which leaves bacteria a place to grow. Much of the time the meat smells because of this, so I take a whiff before I buy, then make sure it's fully cooked, as stomach problems here are rampant. Meat in the US is shrink wrapped and placed in a cooler tray, much cooler than what they have here. Restaurants have a rating there, and if you don't pass, you get a time period to clean up or are closed down. Won't happen here. People don't have to speak English here although it helps when dealing with foreigners. menus are made for locals. If you want to know what's available, use translator on your phone. Crappy workers happen worldwide, and the restaurants suffer from this. If they are owners, they will learn a hard lesson soon by losing customers, something which is not good if you want to make a living. -

Using an overseas Debit Card to minimise paying tax for those of us staying over 180 days
I doubt it very much; there aren't enough officials with sufficient English to follow these discussions. If there are Government people reading this, please be aware, IF you attempt to tax my already taxed pensions in UK, I will be moving to Laos taking my 800K with me.- 1
