I have been actively looking to find a dvd of the movie 'The Railway Man' starring Colin Firth which is the story of one Eric Lomax who was a POW of the Japanese during the second world war. I have read the book and now would like to see the movie. However I am being met by a shaking of the head by all Thai shop assistants and one went so far to say it's not coming to Thailand.

Does this mean that the Thai censor has decided that the story is too difficult to screen in LOS. As far as I am aware there is nothing critical of Thailand in the book and really the whole message of the book an the movie is one of 'Sometime the hate has to stop". A very worthy message.

It has been released in Japan so I cannot see any reason for Thailand to censor it.

Any info would be appreciated.

It is coming to Thailand - at least it is shown as a coming attraction here in Phuket. Probably not on dvd yet as they can't get a copy this early. As already posted Piratebay better option anyway (if you don't need Thai subtitles)

It opens April 24th here in Bangkok, I'm excited to see the film.

The bookstore at Siam had a display last week with a special edition book with Colin firth and Nicole Kidman on the cover, great read btw.
