I have no dollar . At this time

Maybe it's also overcharge?

I don't say anything and pay!

When someone claim this , what the immigration say?

Last year in pompet many people!

Immigration say pay 200 baht and you not must wait in the line I payed and walk streigt in!

Some people get in for the 20 usd especially if they have numerous Cambodian visas in their pp. What I see is the vast majority paying 1000 baht to 1200 baht for the visa and if your doing a u-turn another 300 baht on top.

At the small border crossing I would pay a few hundred baht to reenter to the Cambodian officials "because I wasn't staying overnight" . I thought I would rather not argue over a relatively small bribe to get the whole lot over with and get back home safely.

Years ago (2005/06) I was told at the Cambodian Immigration desk (the guy who stamps you in/out at the same time) that the extra was because they knew you weren't staying in Cambodia. He told me that if I were to stay a day (or more) the extra fee wouldn't be charged. At that time I believe it was only an extra 200 baht.

Get a Cambodian evisa next time, and theres no tea money to pay. It is what it is with these border runs and you deal with them as you so wish. One prick before wanted to sell me a Thai immigration card for 200 baht.

Two more Brits just made a border hop. Both were denied entry for 20 usd. They had to pay 1200 baht and 300 on the u-turn.

For a border run they have you by the gonads.

The 300 baht u-turn has become a standard "fine".

The Cambodian immigration people at the border near Koh kong have a great racket going. They wont accept $20, insisting on 1,000 baht, the bitch on the counter even told me to go back into Trat and use an ATM to get more thai money. She eventually accepted $20 and 500 baht, which was all i had.

Locals in KK said she had been doing it for years, had a huge house and they were all in on it. lots of complaints but nothing ever done. I sent an email to Cambodian Immigration and the PP newspaper, of course nothing happened.

After clearing immigration into Cambodia...I ran the gauntlet...narrow passage way...where young Cambodian men were singling out foreigners...herding them into a makeshift police office equipped with one desk and chair...occupied by a man in uniform...and charging 1500 baht to secure safe passage to the bus terminals and taxi stand...all were glad to pay...also were escorted past what I suppose was a customs check...and straight to the transportation hub...anyone else experience this extra expense...?

I go there many years already. always pay 1100 baht and at the U-turn 300 baht.

Only 1 time they asked at the U-turn 400 baht.

I was surprised , but 400 baht it was.

All other times after that it was always 300 baht again. without any hassle.

it means that I paid to much (1100 baht) despite all the Cambodian visas in my passport.

I will see how to do next time.

An e-visa would have been the answer here.

Evisas are not available for Chong Chom. They are only for Poipet and airport.

I have never done a u-turn at any border, but wouldn't it be easily possible to avoid this fee? Just spend at least a few minutes walking around the market then come back, or preferably a few hours. I don't see any reason to pay the u-turn fee. I once left on the same day I arrived (albeit many hours later) and was not asked for a fee, in fact it was not even hinted at. I suspect in your case the officers at the departure channel saw you having just entered or also stamped your passport upon departure - but normally they are not the same people who stamped you in.

I have heard of overcharging for the visa, but the u-turn fee seems unreasonable and you should refuse to pay it.

A moot point now that the Thais have banned in-out visa runs....e

Not all together. If you have a 2 or 3 entry tours visa or a An O-multy you have to do the out-in to activate the next entry.

not true;

al they have done is try to stop the worthless freeloaders that want to make Thailand their home and cant or wont get the correct visa.

PLUS this does not stop those that have tourist visas ( double/ triple entires an need re activate the second, third one) or those on Non B or O visas an need leave every 90 days.

PLus it does not go fully into effect till August 12th

PLus if your able to show your a true tourists, ( hotel bookings, flights planned) they will allow you more than one overland visa exmept entry.

It is already in effect for land borders, it is only the air borders that aren't until Aug 12 (which I think is not the topic here).

But quite correct that only applies to those doing a visa exempt in-out.

With the closing of the Chong Chom Border Crossing by the Thai Army, there ain't no tea money now.

Photo is 500 meters before the crossing. No in-out.

I easily got 2 Cambo visas at Poipet earlier this year, one tourist and one business for the official price (well the second time I paid $2 extra for not having a photo but that was my fault). Didn't have to struggle too hard for it either. Oh and at Poipet they'll only fish for 800 Baht or US$20 + 100 Baht, but you can avoid paying that if you just wait patiently for an extra minute or two, like I did.

Visa for Cambodia is now $30, best to get e visa, will cost extra $5 "processing" whatever that means, but saves all the hassel with the corrupt

border pricks., and saves a page on your passport.Accepted at most land crossings, check first.

Nearer to $40 with $30 + $7 and the processing fee.

Only 2 land crossing allow entry by e-visa ... Poipet and Hat Lek.

I would take the e-visa everytime if I could
