webfact
North Korea: Life in US is a 'living hell'By Anthony ZurcherEditor, Echo ChambersCan turnabout be fair play? After being the subject of global scorn following a highly critical UN report on its human rights abuses, North Korea has released a "news analysis" on the US human rights record.Calling the US "the world's worst human rights abuser", the state-run Korea Central News Agency says the nation is "a living hell, as elementary rights to existence are ruthlessly violated".The writers open the report by noting US President Barack Obama's admission that race is still a problem in the US during his remarks at commemorations on the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (which they call the "anniversary of the institution of citizenship").They go on to list a litany of offences that reads like a cribbing from left-leaning US op-ed pages and opinion magazines, mixed with a dollop of Soviet-era revelling in US decadence and decay.Full story: http://www.bbc.com/news/blogs-echochambers-27285885-- BBC 2014-05-06

Popular Post Jingthing
There is a lot to criticize in the U.S. I have no problem with any country focusing attention on it. For example the rate of incarceration is a scandal, especially of minority groups, poverty is practically criminalized, the cheap processed food environment for the poorer masses almost guarantees life shortening obesity, and full health care access is still being blocked by odious far right wing political forces. But yes of course coming from North Korea, this is a propaganda stunt. However, I still welcome international pressure on the U.S. from more credible sources. Perhaps it can help! Popular Post banglassie
I'm no fan club of the US of A's regime, the federal reserve, playing world cop, spending a bit too much on the military perhaps, and some other aspects. I'm no US citizen, nor have I ever lived there.Although US in many ways appears more and more like a police state than the fair game libertarian nation I wish it to be, that's not something unique for USA. Sweden is a hell-hole of a police state if you ask me, yea, that's my nation. And you are all welcome to criticize it as much as you would like. But since we are only about 10 million people and most known for Vikings, Ikea and Meat balls I'm not sure most of the world really care about us. USA on the other hand has been a leading Nation for decades. And eyes will continue to focus on every fault the Nation makes. The fundamental idea of USA as a free nation is something I like, and there are many libertarian aspects I agree completely with. DPRK on the other hand... Eumm... Not sure I even have a comment for that one. It appears more like a joke to me than a serious Nation (A joke that unfortunately kills thousands of people and hold people prisoners within their own nation...)USA might not be perfect. But who is? Hong Kong seems quite good in my idea, but the fact that it belongs to China makes it only a ticking time-bomb in my view until China will go for their resources and "Truly Unite The Nation". As long as Red China can keep up the growth they have produced (by following American examples to some extent, what is it called? Oh, Capitalism I think!...) nothing will happen. But if they fail, I guess HK, Macau and even Taiwan are on their list of economical resources that in their eyes belong to them... Forcing sterilization in Tibet is not really a top-10 thing to do according to human rights as well...Most US citizen I've met are smart, well-educated and aware of the world around them. Perhaps cause they are travelers or expats. But it's stupid when youtube and similar try to picture US citizens as completely retarded, dumb fat-loving white trash. I'm sure those exists. But we have a similar kind in Sweden, and I'm sure every nation has it's fair share.. Just as they will have their fair share of smart intelligent people. The question is, who's government will allow the smart guys to be seen at all??While money turns the world around and Big Pharma and similar try to get rid of anything that may make them loose some $$ And science is to some extent corrupt as not all scientists are interested in new ideas (it might ruin their life-long work, so it's quite understandable.) You can still write anything you want on the web or post it on youtube for all to see. So USA, while being a bit sketchy, there's still freedom of speech. The day DPRK will give their citizens the same rights, I will start listening to them, until them. Blah...

Popular Post JackJD
The few times I come in here it's a guarantee that I will read some of the dumbest statements possible. Morons venting opinions about subjects they actually know nothing about. An excellent example is Jingthing's ridiculous, "For example the rate of incarceration is a scandal, especially of minority groups, poverty is practically criminalized, the cheap processed food environment for the poorer masses almost guarantees life shortening obesity, and full health care access is still being blocked by odious far right wing political forces' The rate of incarceration is higher for blacks because THEY COMMIT MORE CRIMES. How would I know? I was An American lawyer for 28 years! And the lie about "cheap processed food" is just bizarre; no such food exists! The "poor masses" get food stamps... and many piss that away on expensive junk food. And then the brilliant Winniethekhwai (nice name for a moron) says the women of America would be prettier than North Korea. But I'd bet 10 grand this clown has never been to either county...but he is an EXPERT! Add bluesky to the list of morons! Yes, just another day of brilliance in this time-wasting forum1 Edited May 6, 2014 by JackJD

" ... rate of incarceration is a scandal, especially of minority groups ...", so all criminals that belong to minority groups should go free ? Or what are you suggesting here ? And of course, ignoring the fact that it is OK for the US to invade any country it wants and remove their leaders (Iraq) and support terrorists that try to overthrow a government (Syria), just to get cheap(er) oil ... The US has been playing the "Big Brother" for to long. Who is watching the "Big Brother" ? Well, it doesn't really matter, the US will continue to flex it muscle and ignore the international community and laws ... Considering that somebody like Obama got elected twice (!!!), I also wondering about the education and intelligence level of the average US voter ... luudee

Probably true, but someone had to keep the Soviets from "liberating" France, the rest of Mainland Europe, and the UK (not to mention Asia) after they dusted off the Germans. As for Obama, he's been a huge disappointment, but can you imagine how much worse off the world would be if Cheney, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz were still prowling the Pentagon?
