Traffic Police announced road closures starting from 1.30 pm today

The police have announced road closures starting from 1.30 pm today in the expressway sections of Ploenchit (เพลินจิต), Surawong (สุรวงศ์) and roads around the Anantasamakom (อนันตสมาคม) Palace and the Navy Convention Hall.

Traffic Police Commander Phanu Kerdlarpphon (ภาณุ เกิดลาภผล) said roads will be closed at 1.30 pm to facilitate the travels of visiting royalty to Anantasamakom Palace. The paths comprise the Charoenkrung (เจริญกรุง) Road, Surawong (สุรวงศ์) Foad, Rama VI Road, Phetchaburi (เพชรบุรี) Road, Ratchadamnoennok (ราชดำเนินนอก) road, Phitsanulok (พิษณุโลก) road, Phloenchit (เพลินจิต) Road and Rajdamnern Klang (ราชดำเนินกลาง) Road, as well as the expressway segments from Surawong (สุรวงศ์) to Uruphong (อุรุพงษ์) and Pholoenchit (เพลินจิต) to Yommarat (ยมราช).

The 25 convoys will be traveling half a minute apart from one another. At 3 PM, traffic will be closed on the same route so the visiting monarchs could make their way back. However roads around the Anantasamakom Palace will be closed during the entire ceremony.

At 5 pm another road closure will commence, involving the Surawong and Pholoenchit sections of the expressway, and the roads that lead through Rama VIII Bridge to the Navy convention center.

At 8 pm road closures will once again be made, starting from the Navy through Pinklao (ปิ่นเกล้า) Bridge, Rajdamnern, Phanfa (ผ่านฟ้า) Bridge, and up the Yommarat (ยมราช) section of the expressway.

This morning monarchs from 6 more countries arrived in Thailand.

The commander of the Traffic Police is asking that people avoid the aforementioned routes, especially when the monarchs make their way back from the Navy convention hall as this would also be the time when most people will leave the area after the royal barges procession.

Those who are continuing to Rajdamnern Road after the royal barge display are advised to walk.

People may take their own vehicles to park at nearby unclosed roads or at private parking places and the commuter would then have to take public transport.
