G'day all.

Some bright spark dragged a heavy flower pot out the tray of my new Ranger and kindly put a few deep scratches in the paintwork on the lip of the lid (without an apology!).

Does anyone know if Ford still do those touch-up sticks of paint?

Have asked at the local dealership but they just told me to go to an accident repair place, which seems a bit excessive.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

There are no 'touch up' kits for Fords in Thailand. If your Ranger colour is also available in UK or Australia market, you can try and buy from there. Make sure you have the proper Ford colour code from the label inside the door frame and not just the name as they sometimes rename the same colours for different markets.

Hey did u manage to sort the problem? I found a couple of small but deep scratches and am worried that rust will come out in the future. When I took it in for service last week Ford too told me to go to a panel beater.

Yes, there is ONE company that has touch up paint for every vehicle, and it is OEM spec. They will send to your house COD (send them a bank transfer via ATM and they will send to you. It is thaicarpaint dot com. I'ved used their paint and it is good, and the service it prompt. They also have small paint brushes that are perfect for dings.

It comes in quite large glass bottles, which is great, and not so great, because I immediately broke one, and have to re-order paint for one of my cars. Shake well, and apply very sparingly (let first coat dry, and re-apply for deep dings), using the paint brush or a toothpick to apply in a dotting, not swiping manner. If you have a big scratch, the paint brushes are high quality and will work too. I would order a paint brush for each color, and buy some thinner at the market to clean up.

Ok thanks for the info. I was just reading on another site on how to apply and they mention a primer. Is this available too from this site as it seems to be in thai only? I'll probably buy what's needed and take it to someone to apply it for me. I'd be scared I'd mess it up lol.

The scratches are small but to the metal - on the arch above the left rear door so they're not really visible. I'm more worried about rust eventually showing up.

These are the scratches. Some dimwit at the local car wash did it - don't know if by mistake or on purpose. To be fair when we spoke to the owner of the joint he said we couldn't prove it was them but he was ready to cough up half the expense to fix.
