Why no elephant tattoos?

Thais love elephants but the only tattoos I usually see are religous, fish, tribal signs, chinese characters, and "John Was Here."

I wonder why...

Has to do with their religion and beliefs an elephant is considerd a holy animal and is one of the national symbols of Thailand.
