Old Man River
Let's get this straight. This is an administration that won't respect the Constitutional Court's ruling. Chalerm won't budge. Surapong won't budge. And yet they expect to heap charges upon charges on everyone else - including academics - yes, academics - for speaking on a stage. The charge ? Supporting a rebellion. Pheu Thai is no longer a party. It's a basket case. Agree, but would add to it the legal issues. How do you illegally rebel by participating in a legal demonstration against a government that dissolved itself into a caretaker status? Thait Spot
I would suggest that the courts deal with UDD and PDRC offences in parallel and in a transparrent manner so that all sides can see justice being applied.
MobileContent
May be with some luck the courts can also get rid of Suthep at the same time. The Shinawatra's are offiically out of office now. YS was fired so I wonder what Suthep still does on the streets in Bangkok. I guess it really never was about the Shinawatra's but more about Suthep pushing himself in power. oneday
Nothing will ever come of this. Just as the NACC and Constitutional Court jumped all over Yingluck and finally ousted her they will be slow to do anything on these charges or ultimately they will dismiss the charges. gabruce
It would be interesting to see if they have any legal basis for their charges or not. It seems like the government/PTP are quick to lay charges when the whim takes them, and then realize afterwards that they have no real basis for the charge. Of course with the paucity of details available for all of this who knows. Who knows what the definition of terrorism is here ... it might be enough to say that you think the government is doing a poor job of governing. Obviously Suthep has said a lot more than that, and caused disruptions by demonstrating, occupying streets, a park, and government offices at different times. Personally I don't really see the basis for sedition or for terrorism.

rametindallas
The office of the Attorney General, the DSI, and CAPO, are, at the same time, both puppets of Thaksin and a joke. Every time one of them brings trumped up charges, the courts nullify them. These new charges will be nullified, too. Of all the charges brought against Suthep so far, only one is still outstanding. Since they know they have absolutely no power or authority to arrest Suthep, these charges are only designed to keep the gullible Red Shirts fooled into believing the fight is still on and winnable. It is not. Thaksin gambled by dissolving Parliament, hoping for a quick mandate and return of the PTP to power, and he lost. He got beat by the same tactics in early 2006 by the same Democrats. How stupid is he? Stupid enough to do the same thing expecting a different result. He is almost out of tactics as soon, the CAPO will be disbanded for corruption with their unaccountable spending. Soon, also, will come the dissolution and five year ban on Puea Thai Party. Thaksin will be down to third stringers to form his new puppet party, with people whom he hardly knows and whose loyalty is untested. Once the UDD leadership are sure he is finished, they will simply take his money and offer him lip service only. He may think he has a chance to come back to power in Thailand but not in this lifetime. The sooner he accepts that fact, the sooner Thailand can get back on the road to recovery. Too bad Thaksin will spend the rest of his days funding low-level terrorists attacks on Thailand; 'If I can't have the power, I'll make it where no one else wants it'. He will die a bitter old man. Suthep and his gang plan to invade government offices so they can install their own 'government', lay siege to TV stations, clog up streets, use their guards to hurt people, and conduct countless 'final battles'. It sounds like a little more than 'speaking on a stage'. Lets get this straight genius - plan to does not make a crime. They need Suthep out the way because they think he is the only one who will stand for their red shirt shananigins - they have a lot to learn about the 10s of millions who will not stand for red opression and violence and scamming any more! Both sides have planned and conducted illegal 'shananigins'. It doesn't take a genius to know that Suthep (and the red shirts) are hurting the country. And blind, foreign fanatical posters, who take either side, are just smelly gas in the wind. And blind, foreign fanatical posters, who take either side, are just smelly gas in the wind. noksidam
You can say what you like about Khun Suthep and Chumpol, but one thing they did do was bring to the nation and the international community attention the corrupt PTP and the nepotism that exist in the corridors of power, they where a dismal failure with policy on the run , and a and a systematic failure on the administration management in being unable to control , delegate or police any programs that they introduced and in the back ground , Thaskin Shinawatra , pulling the strings, not a good look from a history point of view, they never learnt from past mistakes. You are so delusional that it would be funny if it wasn't pathetic. The only thing Suthep and the wimpy Dem's have managed to do is to make Thaksin look pretty good to the world. Everybody knows Thaksin was self-serving but at least he was democratically elected. The vote buying accusation has been dismissed long ago. The rice scheme was probably a mistake but everybody knows the PTP would win again if elections were allowed to be held. You can try to rationalize your anti-democratic tendencies as much as you want; but history will remember the blocked polling stations, the Dem's cowardly boycott of elections and the politically motivated judgement by the CC. Try to read newspaper from outside the country. Find me one newspaper article (no Nation-Bkk Post) that corroborate your views. sae57
The words "democracy" and "peace" have been redefined with a perverted meaning by the Thaksinistas. Now they have twisted and redefined the word "terrorism". Utterly ridiculous and detestable. Well, also, the Thai word that is translated back and forth as "terrorist" simply means "trouble maker" (phukokanrai). And I think there is some confusion among Thais about the word "terrorism". Anyway, of course the "government" is bringing extreme charges. No surprise here; barely even news. --S
chooka
Meaning nothing unless the police have the balls to go bring him in to face the charges. At least YL face the court. What about you Suthep? He hasn't gut the guts to face his charges. Yingluk is more of a man than this slimy little worm will ever be. Yingluk probably got was coming to her and she took it like man. Suthep is a coward. TimCM
seems Thailand is confused about the word terrorism. hes killed no one - where as Juthaporn and Thida have - they should be facinbg that charge NOT Suthep whos only crime is to have thrown egg in the face of Thaksin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A grave sin to the square faced one!! Then why is he facing murder charges, well at least he would be if the courts were not so corrupt. Terrorism is more than just killing someone, it is the use of threats and force to obtain political gain. To say he is not as guilty as the red shirts shows your inability to think outside your own bias. I suppose all those in 2010 shot themselves...

So what has suthep to do with exposing corruption when the only alleged corruption case involving the PTP government was being investigated by the NACC over a year ago. Likewise what involvement has suthep had in bringing to the nation and the international community attention the nepotism when the Thawil case has it's origins back in 2012 when Thawil first petitioned the courts for wrongful dismissal. suthep began his demo in November 2013 The answer? A Big Fat Zero. He's spent 6 months and 9 Final pushes to get.........................................arrest warrants for Murder, Sedition and Terrorism ( to be announced) charges. Result.

I have to disagree with that, the PTP has been building up a bubble economy, borrowing to stimulate the economy and encourage foreign investment with significantly less real underlying growth. At the point at which foreign investment slows down and borrowing limits are reached, the bubble bursts and Thailand will go through a great recession. This is inevitable and will happen regardless of Suthep's rebellion. The difference is that the later it happens the worse it will be. Suthep's little rebellion will help to create uncertainty causing foreign investors to pull out and in addition to the 2 trillion baht loan bill that was blocked, help bring Thailand into a recession early limiting the long term damages.
