Fifty countries issue travel warnings

BANGKOK, 11 April 2014 (NNT) Fifty countries around the world have issued warnings, informing their nationals about the ongoing political conflict in Thailand.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 50 out of 68 countries surveyed have notified their citizens of the ongoing protests in and outside Bangkok following the Constitutional Court's ruling to remove Ms Yingluck Shinawatra from her office on charges in connection with the transfer of former National Security Council (NSC) chief Thawil Pliensri, prompting both pro- and anti-government protesters to take to the street.

The fifty countries include the United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Sweden, Germany, Austria, Spain, Greece, Portugal, Belgium, Luxemberg, the Netherlands, Denmark Lithuania, Norway, Romania, Finland, Hungary, Italy, Switzerland, Slovak, Russia, Khazakstan, Poland, Czech, Turkey, Israel, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Suadi Arabia, Iran, Japan, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, India, Australia, New Zealand, Indoensia, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines and Laos.

Furthermore, some nations have also issued warnings about the 6.3 magnitude quake and aftershocks that jolted Thailands northern region early this week, calling on their citizens to be extremely cautious when traveling in that particular area. These countries are the United States, Canada, UK, France and Italy.

Seems they missed the goal-post by a fair margin, for the reason given! bah.gif

Well if they don't issue warnings they get in hot water, when the body bags come home. Which is most every day already. But when this starts and it will. It's going to be bloody. No way I can see it being avoided at this point. ....so stock up on whatever.... You think you need. From BKK.......

If we were to follow the travel advices of our Ministries of Foreign Affairs, we would travel only to Switzerland and Canada.

CANADA .... where there has been an oil spill every week for the last 37 years and where you have a good chance of being killed by an exploding

OIL train.

What a stupid, irresponsible, misconceived comment you have made here.

First sentence is ok and probably true, but then the rest of your statement is utter garbage and over alarmist .

Yes people do get killed over here for whatever reasons, but at the moment it is not because of the protests and certainly not nearly every day. How many foreigeners have died at the protests since the protests began?????

Your second statement is also rather far fetched too, as everything is being done that can be done to control any escalation of violence in my opinion. Yes it MAY get bloody, but there is no certainty about this and hopefully there are ways it can hopefully be avoided.

So stock up on whatever you think you need??? Let us wait a while shall we, and see what is really going to happen, eh???

Silly the Khazakstani government issued a warning to the populace. They could have warned the sole Khazak coming here this decade personally.

Borat?

Can't you see him in his mankini on Jomtien?

I can definitely see him falling for a busty ladyboy, unknowing.

Somehow, though, I think the Thais would not take kindly to his antics.

I agree. People should be warned about the ongoing problems here........ the corrupt officials, the roads, the buses, the trains , the jet skis, the fake goods, the ladyboys, the prostitutes (sorry, bargirls) and assorted scams....... all much more likely to be an issue for tourists than the odd political rally in dirty, downtown Bangkok.

Particularly the ladyboys, in Thailand they do not have beards.cheesy.gif

Congratulations peoples medium!

I didn't know your reforms included the tourist industry!

If only they had not tried to amnesty Taksin.. That is what started this all.. all is a result of this utter incompetent corrupt government that only works for their big boss.

The reds so easily forget what started this all.

It goes much much deeper than that. Speak to someone who knows the proper motives. The Amnesty Bill was a convenient excuse.

You must be an American from the land where everything runs like clockwork, but that would be Switzerland wouldn't it?

Here we go again. Can't really belive that most of these countrys are alot more violent and dangerous than it is here ! And issuing warnings about the quake that happened is amazing. The next warning will be don't goto the sea side, there could be a tsunami !

Soooo, you obviously watch Hockey on the Canadian Channel.
