Fifty countries issue travel warnings

Here we go again. Can't really belive that most of these countrys are alot more violent and dangerous than it is here ! And issuing warnings about the quake that happened is amazing. The next warning will be don't goto the sea side, there could be a tsunami !

The US, for example, has (re)issued a Travel Alert back on 14 Feb. Mind you an Alert is a benign, informative effort. A Travel Warning, like the OP indicates, is a strong suggestion to avoid travel.

There was no update to the Travel Alert when Yingluck got the boot. http://travel.state.gov/content/passports/english/alertswarnings/thailand-travel-alert.html

So the journoboob over at the NNT either doesn't know what he/she's talking about or does and is being far too liberal with facts and terminology to suit their agenda, and fill space.

US DoS did not release a Travel Warning or Alert after the earthquake. Best I can find is an emergency bulletin on the US Embassy Bangkok website. It is brief, not alarmist, and completely appropriate to their scope here in Thailand.

Congratulations peoples medium!

I didn't know your reforms included the tourist industry!

If only they had not tried to amnesty Taksin.. That is what started this all.. all is a result of this utter incompetent corrupt government that only works for their big boss.

The reds so easily forget what started this all.

The Magnificent 7 pro gov posters Know all this it has been hammered at them for ages.

Their agenda does not cover that it covers -not admitting to any bad governance--and blurting out PTP propaganda to any poster that criticizes.

Topic travel, 50+ sounds worrying and it is for Thailand more than tourists. Advisory is maybe a better term.

I cannot see for the life of me -say in Manchester-a travel shop having a notice on the shop window ---WARNING Do not purchase tickets for Thailand.

If we were to follow the travel advices of our Ministries of Foreign Affairs, we would travel only to Switzerland and Canada.

CANADA .... where there has been an oil spill every week for the last 37 years and where you have a good chance of being killed by an exploding

OIL train.

You must be an American from the land where everything runs like clockwork, but that would be Switzerland wouldn't it?

No. Switzerland has the clocks that say cuckoo

Well if they don't issue warnings they get in hot water, when the body bags come home. Which is most every day already. But when this starts and it will. It's going to be bloody. No way I can see it being avoided at this point. ....so stock up on whatever.... You think you need. From BKK.......

How many coups have you been through in Thailand? Doesn't sound like my kinda Thai kinda coup.

Sing it.

corrupt govtnt ousted, and yet the minions and pawns are still unaccepting of the outcome.

Chalerm still pissed up from his trip to Singapore, and believing CRAPO is in power.

Jatuporn,, well the less said the better.

Yingy poo? puss in boots.

Prem can't be ars*d.

And still we recieve <deleted> from the "those of those who know everything" that is going to happen: the violence and street fighting, from the reds..

Not much is going to happen, and it will all fizzle out through the courts, once Suthep's next step (not final) is when he exposes all BIB's personal assets, including their businesses, huge homes, bank account holdings, etc. That is what is coming..... and then when the BIB get angry is when all hell breaks loose.

By then, the army will be armed........ and here we go again..... but this time no Shin Corp at the top. And that is the complete difference!

This is of course all total rubbish - the title reads travel warnings which is totally untrue! For example go to the UK FO site and you will notice it is Travel ADVICE not quite the same thing - it then goes onto giving a perfectly factual description of present events in Thailand and where to avoid etc. Nowhere does it suggest you don't come to Thailand .

Shame. But they are covering themselves, thats all.

What I think is even more of a shame is TV members constantly calling each other stupid and saying they talk BS.

Just a normal based argument doesn t need to become personal. We CAN agree to disagree, see no problem with that.

Correct.

I went to the USA Embassy site. No alert since the one in Feb.

Canada has two warnings,

Regional Advisory for the Preah Vihear temple (Phra Viharn temple in Thai) area and surrounding border region.

Regional Advisory for the southern provinces of Narathiwat, Pattani, Yala and Songkhla.

Who does the fact checking round here?

To your "point" Thailand is still relatively safe but there is a lot of tension in the air and conflict is a possibility. It would be irresponsible in the extreme for countries not to warn their citizens of possible dangers.

There you go making sense again. I thought you would have learned that making sense has no place on a blog...which is what TVF has degenerated into.

Silly the Khazakstani government issued a warning to the populace. They could have warned the sole Khazak coming here this decade personally.

Borat?

No need, he's driving a taxi in England now: " Hello, postcode pliz".

Two most excellent choices.thumbsup.gif

Ah dunno' about either of those places. I did my knees-in skiing in Switzerland and there is a mad, crack-smoking Mayor lurking around in Toronto.

Reckon both places should be listed as dangerous! 555.

No! What started all this, was a small but powerfully backed minority unable to accept their power being usurped by the will of the majority. Any democratically elected government has the right to put before parliament any bill it sees fit.

That's democracy.

Borat?

Can't you see him in his mankini on Jomtien?

I can definitely see him falling for a busty ladyboy, unknowing.

Somehow, though, I think the Thais would not take kindly to his antics.

They rock up here by way of Israel 500 years after years after the Khazarian conversion to Talmudism.

There's plenty of 'em.

See Koestler's 13th Tribe.

Then there's actual "Russian" speaking ex-Soviets here from that part of Central Asia.

I move when hear a pack of 'em boarding the BTS.
