More M79 grenades hit Chaengwattana protest site

5-12-2014-9-17-47-AM-wpcf_728x413.jpg

BANGKOK: -- Chaengwattana protest site occupied by anti government protesters was struck again by two M 79 grenades Sunday night, injuring one guard.

One grenade landed in front of one of the three Thai traditional houses where leader of the protesters, Luang Poo Buddha-issara resided. Another grenade landed near the bunker of the anti aircraft unit soldiers erected to ensure safety for protesters.

The grenade that landed near the Thai traditional house injured one guard, while it remained unknown if any soldier was injured in an explosion near the soldiers’ outpost. Soldiers prohibited entry while awaiting the Army EOD to inspect the scene.

Luang Poo came out to inspect the explosion scene last night.

He said protesters have been prepared to cope with the red shirt People’s Radio for Democracy which threatened to remove his protest site on Chaengwattana today reasoning his protest location obstructing traffic which is expected to be congested when schools open on first semester this month.

Can you imagine the reaction in any other country if there would be a months long series of deadly attacks like this in a city?

Do you remember the Washington Sniper? Man and son team terrorizing the area by shooting at people on the streets. There was an enormous, immediate man hunt to find them, here, Amazing Thailand, months of terrorist attacks and no reaction from the authorities to find the culprits, just yesterday a grenade was fired into a building of Rangsit University and the police reaction "oh, they didn't mean to hurt anybody". <deleted>!!!

Why are you comparing the US to Thailand?

Substitute the US for any other country above Somalia on a State of Law scale.

Can't really compare Thailand to most other countries because most other countries have a functioning police force who would have prevented people from obstructing public roads and buildings for months on end. Masked thugs acting as judge, jury and executioner get to decide who goes where while the police are powerless to do anything. This poor man who has been murdered... the story doesn't seem to rate a mention in either of the two main English language news websites so far... all a very sad indictment of the situation here.

I hope they get them who did this so far they have always send the guards to the police when they committed crimes. They don't hide and protect them. Its a big shame and no excuse for their behavior.

Do they?

Has "buddha" issara handed over the five (police say 10 are wanted for attempted murder) security guards that beat up and shot Col Witthawat Wattanakul? He only said the guards would surrender themselves to the police. There has been nothing in the press and the Police are not slow to announce arrests like that.

False analogy.

Yet again we have the very clear and cowardly targeting of protesters when they were sleeping, as well as the army - in lieu of the police's presence - that has been assigned to protect them. For those who outrageously call this " an attempt at sympathy " with " fake bombs " hurled at an " empty bunker " - what kind of mind would construe this as sympathy - sympathy for whom ? For those that hurl bombs at innocent people when their sleeping ? What mind could construe that a fake bomb can't produce injury when it is clear that they can ( Likely because the bombs are real to begin with ) ? And how in the world does this person know the bunker was empty ? None of that is covered in this report.

What this news story reveals is that there are sick minds who are throwing real bombs at innocent people, with the intent to kill, harm, and terrorize. To conclude otherwise is simply appalling.

BNC that picture is a bitter and tragic reflection of what modern day Thailand has become.

A country bend double; bleeding with its guts on the pavement for the world to see with its' life and future draining away.

And all the while the two opposing sides continue to twist their knives deeper and further into its broken dying carcass ... all in the name of democracy.

Peacefully bombing their opponents into terror and submission, with the goal of bringing back a fraudulent dictator, in the name of democracy. I love the red shirts!

Just wondering, where does it say in the post that the red shirts bombed their opponents?

And why would the red shirts want to bring back the fraudulent dictator Suthep?

Your post makes absolutely no sense.

Your post makes absolutely no sense.

Its embedded in observation, pattern, logic, deductive reasoning, a nasty reputation. We know, as well as you, who does this type of crap time and again. We also know why they are not apprehended or caught (police).

You're missing the point that the whole Suthep charade is a mockery of the ineptitude, graft and reaction to PTP.

Very clear way to put it. I'm sure as Suthep makes his outlandish statements, he's thinks to himself, "Yoh, Thaksin, watch this.", as Thaksin bounces off the walls of his Dubai condo.

An anti-aircraft unit? Really?

It's outside the anti aircraft units base on Chaeng Whattana, pretty sure that they aren't using anti-aircraft guns to shoot down M79 grenades (TiT so I could be wrong :) )

They could be handy for police parachutists.

You know that it was The Red Shirts?

Using the scientific theory method, we will accept "red shirts" as an acceptable answer until a more plausible theory is provided, or until evidence is found to prove the theory wrong.

If you have an alternate theory, please supply it, if only for our amusement.

BTW Thaksin's hired mercenaries is only another way of describing red shirts.

Your logic seems more like Guilty until proven innocent.

A bit like finding a PM guilty of not stopping corruption when no corruption has ever ben proven.

Do you believe that The Red Shirts sunk the Titanic until somebody proves they did not plant the iceberg?

The scientific theory method has led to the advances of our modern life. That you do not understand it is sad, but distortions of facts and straw-man arguments will not deflect from its effectiveness.
