Phuket in July? (Weather & Alcohol Bans)

Hi fellas! This is my first message...

We have a vocation plan to Phuket in July, between 18-31st.

But i have two major concerns; weather and bar closures (due to religion holidays)

Weather;

I know it's monsoon season in July. I've been in Pattaya in 2012 August, weather was mostly clear/cloudy, just a few shower some days.

But my concern is for island trips and sea joy. We should have a big chance make this island trips in 12 days, right? =)

If you have any July experience, i'd love to hear...

Bar closures / Alcohol Bans;

It's an important issue since we have expections about night life. I'm confused about alcohol bans in July.

Here, according to this website, almost half of our trip conflicts with Bar closures / Alcohol Bans:

But some other sources say it's just two days, 22-23rd July. Hmm....

------------

Can you enlighten me about these concerns, dear Phuket lovers? =)

I would say bars would be closed July 11 (Asanha Bucha) and 12 (Khao Phansa, Buddhist Lent). No one can predict the weather at that time of year in Phuket. It can be nice in July or it can be very stormy. It is monsoon season now and will be until November.The Andaman Sea is not anything like the Gulf of Thailand which is the body of water near Pattaya. There are waves and large rip currents in July in Phuket. The sea can be very choppy and boats do still go out even when it's unsafe. Several a year sink. So be wise and check the conditions before you go out! Don't trust the tour company or boat "captain" to make a safety decision, their decision will always be driven by money…

Surf season my friend ! thumbsup.gif

Chosen vocation should be surfer, rent a board at Kata surf far end where it's easy just beyond the Boathouse.

For the no alcohol nights stock up the days before, keep preferred booze in room and take back to the beach for evening beach party drinking.

Weather will be fine and you'll have fun, lather up on the sunscreen on sunny days. Enjoy !
