Police try to arrest Indian businessman on Insurrection charge

BANGKOK: -- Dozens of police on Friday afternoon were surrounding a condominium in Silom where Satish Sehgal, a leading Indian businessman; lived.

Satish Segal is one of anti-government rally leaders who were issued arrest warrant on insurrection charge.

A police was quoted as saying that Satish should surrender or face deportation.

Criminal Court on Wednesday approved arrest warrants requested by Department of Special Investigation on 30 core leaders of People’s Democratic Reform Committee, including Satish.

Satish, a former chairman of Thai-Indian Chamber of Commerce, was criticised of being a leader of PDRC after he appeared on rally stage. However he denied the charges. He faced deportation if charged.

A witness said people who lived in the areas came out in their attempt to help Satish by blocking police with their vehicles.

The DSI mentioned FIVE foreigners were PDRC leaders. This chap doesn't really seem to be one, but for the sake of the discussion let's count him as 1.

How about the other four foreign leaders?

Then that wasn't normal Silom traffic!

And will they arrest Robert Amsterdam for being on the UDD stage also?

No, they will arrest Thaivisa forum contributors before they even consider thinking about that slug.

Correct. The courts held that Satish erred in appearing on stage, but said that he should be released on the undertaking that he did not appear on stage again, which he hasn't. So what is it that Chalerm/Tarit believe they have on the guy...?!

And Tharit was just on the news saying that they have also arrested a Mr.R Amsterdam on secession charges. As he was speaking on stage in Nakhon Pathom... unfortunately he cannot be deported as he has Thai citizenship as of 14/5/2014 at 10.15am exactly 15 minutes BEFORE the lawyers council asked immigration to investigate him.

Chalerm has stated it's no problem as Mr Amsterdam was a nice guy!

Spoof

I thought that warnings were perfectly clear about foreigners meddling in thai politics and yet he chose to ignore them at his own peril.

And the same goes for Amsterdam !

And yet the government is saying nothing about Amsterdam.

Gotta wonder...

As soon as he was aware of the warning he stopped going on stage .. that's one of the reasons the court threw the case out originally!

Also I don't believe he said anything about over throwing the government. But may be wrong!

"A police was quoted as saying that Satish should surrender or face deportation" Why don't they get off their lazy asses and go and arrest him? Same with others too.. Telling people they have to "surrender" is like telling somebody who owes you money to go to the bank and send a cheque instead of going and getting it! Never happen!

What on earth motivates Chalerm and his buddies to chase the guy? He is not a PDRC leader. He does/did not preach breaking laws. What about the movieclips of Jatuporn asking protestors to bring bottles with oil to burn down bangkok? Why not chase that guy?

If needed I hope the King will pardon him and allow him to stay and thus be able to take care of his mother longer.

Do the sods see it as a success if they can get Satish extradicted, what didn't succeed before?

How miserable can people be? Did The Gazette still not fire Chalerm? I read he will only accept verdicts from the Constitutional Court if they are published in The Gazette.

Someone please deport Chalerm and his buddies. Give them free tickets to Dubai. Then later when more important business is done can start trying go get them back to Thailand for facing the courts and (the missunderstood fugitive) serve jailtime.

What about Robert Amsterdam?? Talk about double standards!
