IMA_FARANG Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 There was an article in Today's Bangkok Post newspaper about a village in Thailand that raises trees for replanting and sells them around Thailand and other areas of South East Asia. They sell full or partly grown trees of various types to real estate developers and such. They also raise and sell seedlings of 1year, 2 year, or 3 year old size. Apparently this village is doing a booming business selling these trees not only in Thailand but in such areas as Malaysia, Laos, Singapore, etc. where hew housing projects are being built. According to the article this has turned that formerly poor farming village into a prosperous village with almost full employment. I believe this village is in central Thailand somewhere. Does anyone know anything about this village: where it is, or it's name? I believe it is in a Rubber growing area of Thailand, as the article mentions many of the farmers switched from Rubber to these Shade and Ornamental trees they now grow a few years ago.
David48 Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Mate, I looked, but couldn't find it. However, do have a look at another thread on a similiar subject. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/706118-bought-8-rai-in-prachiniburi/
Crocbait Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 If you still have the paper and read the article again, it does actually state where the trees are grown. "Cha-om community in Saraburi’s Kaeng Khoi district " Cheers
