A little straw poll: How many here come from a country

Ayjaydee, not only are you posting deliberately inflaming posts but you are refusing to enter into any kind of discussion when others post opinions you don't want to hear.

Along with all the other Thai apologists you cannot raise your respones above, 'If you don't like it then off to another country'.

Just for it's sheer lack of intellectual argument this kind of post and possibly member should be banned.

Thailand is a beautiful place in many respects but the longer one lives here the more the avoidable difficulties begin to annoy.

It is overly complicated for an ex-pat to reside here even when paying a considerable amount of tax every year. Let's not forget that someone from Thailand with special skills required by the government of another country could quite easily own a business and / or an abode. Someone who pays taxes by opening a business and employing natives gets zero respect here from the Thai government and still has to report every 90 days like a criminal.

Ex-pats foolish enough (in my opinion) to buy property here in the name of their spouse have no protection under Thai law when they find themselves surplus to requirements unlike the UK where even someone living with a home owner for a few months has protection (fact).

Larger and larger numbers of ex-pats are homeless in Thailand. The laws and mentality (religion, superstition, education, academia, politics, discourse) here are at least 50 years behind Europe. Stating otherwise would be foolish but that very fact is in some way what makes us enjoy living here while simultaneously bemoaning some of the viccissitudes this throws up.

It's a beautiful country with a freewheelin attitude to what one can and cannot do here in many instances. Many of the freedoms we take for granted can no longer be enjoyed in England.

There are two sides to any argument. Stop pretending that everything is rosy in Thailand because there are some problems and moaning about them is one way to relieve the stress.A DESIRE TO SEE FAIR PLAY, is not a criticism of the country but a comment on it's governance.

Try the U S. In California an illegal immigrant can apply for tuition assistance for college

yeah IF they were brought illegally as children by their parents and:

To qualify, the states that have such laws generally require the students to have:

    1. attended a school in the state for a certain number of years;
    2. graduated from high school in the state; and
    3. signed an affidavit stating that they have either applied to legalize their status or will do so as soon as eligible.

hardly what I asked.

True it's not what you asked. You asked how many here come from a country...

My guess would be 7

I think it's probably more. Around 12 would be my estimate!
