European Union may boycott Thailand if it delays election: Surapong

Recommended Posts

Again..blah, blah, blah

Surapong, are you feeling left out and noijai for not getting invited by Prayuth to the meeting? Got to spew out some nonsense to make yourself feeling that you are still the "words of wisdom" for Thailand? You think EU or USA threatening to boycott Thailand will all of a sudden make both sides compromise? Are you really and still on cloud 9 thinking the domestic mess is better sorted out by foreign power, such as UN and now you are trying to drag US and EU into it?

Sometimes, rather, all the time, you make others question if your qualification is fit to being a foreign minister, same as Yingluck as PM, but at least she is gone!

Don't believe this "expression" at all as the EU would not/could not speak for the US! Embarrassing to see these creeps holding onto power for which they were never competent.

I revel in these unsubstantiated claims and with Surapongs history they are thick and fast.

Can I have a go to?

Australia, England and most countries in the world issued a letter to express their concern regarding Thailand. It said the expression indicated that if reform is not implemented and all 15 principles respected (not just 1) they would certainly boycott Thailand.

That is as believable as Surpongs claims…Without proof of course.

Unfortunately for Surapong he is no longer relevant while the PTP do nothing in the confines of a "safe house" and the General is not a PTP lackey that will toe the PTP line for thaksin.

He has more free will than a Tesco Lotus shopping trolley wheel and will ask for these "letters" (no doubt written in crayon with Surapongs hand writing) to be produced so he can see them for himself.

Nice try Surpong, but times….they are a changen….

Of course Surapong is still relevant, he is from the ruling family. Sure he has more power to decide things than the current acting-caretaker-placeholder-pm

Why is this person even commenting on anything.

He was removed from his position by the courts, and as such, the EU have no reason to contact him. He is simply full of sh1t..!

He is commenting on everything today (referendum), maybe just wants to remain relevant.

I wish the press would ignore this guy and suthep as neither hold any official position

Former Minister of Foreign Affairs calls for elections to be held quickly

BANGKOK 22 May 2014 (NNT) — Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Surapong Tovichakchaikul has called for elections to take place in Thailand in order to move the country forward.

Mr. Surapong stated that since Thailand declared martial law, the European Union (EU) issued a letter expressing its concerns for the current situation and that if the law stays in place, the EU and the United States may likely issue an economic boycott against Thailand.

In response, Mr. Surapong is strongly urging the Army Commander in Chief Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha to ensure that there are elections shortly in order for the country to elect a new democratic prime minister.

Moreover, Mr. Surapong added that there could also be a public opinion poll, asking the public whether or not they would like to have elections first and then administering the so-called reforms, or vice-versa. Doing so, however, would have to be done in a democratic manner.

It looks that you don't have much knowledge of Thailand's economy.

Oh and you certainly do, no ?

Did you purposely forget to mention Jatuporn and Thaksin in your sentence, as they too have no official position (except convicted criminals, if you could call that a position)

or they used up their posting-budget, or Prayuth is blocking the money flow?

My friend fab4 will be mightily disappointed that this Surapong said that referendums and elections can be held during the imposition of the Martial Law.

Thank you for posting the link Casualbiker.

Nothing in there about boycotts or pressure not to delay elections. Usual garbage this clown spouts to try and pretend overseas governments and organizations are sympathetic to the Shin clan - when clearly they're not.

I should have typed 'they' referring to Jatuporn as well. I doubt anyone who is part of TV gives a stuff what Taksin says so I don't bother with him

"He said the expression indicated that if the next election was delayed or there was a coup, the EU and the United States would certainly boycott Thailand."

Surapong wants a quick election, hence he, and noone else, has decided to interpret the letter in a way that suits his agenda.

Consider it another white lie from the Shinawatra government if you like.

I bet Surapong has no intention to ask the EU to clarify their statement, as his lie would then be exposed biggrin.png

Fortunately everyone that matters in Thailand, and outside Thailand, do not pay too much attention to anything the government says these days. Hell, even those who don't really matter seems to have given up :-D

So, the usual Surapong rhetoric: stating something different to what was actually written. Lies lies lies.
Furthermore, Surapong is NOT the deputy PM as stated in the report. He was stripped of that title after the recent court ruling. What a loser.

Surapong received a signal , anything of that nature is confidential , so the EU would not be to happy having its messages tossed about like a lovers Xmas card, all B/S , guarantee it.

Post#7 above posted the actual letter - thank you. There is not even the slightest hint about a boycut or any other "punishment" from the EU or the US. Simply a very short standard letter hoping Thailand will solve it's problems as soon as possible.

Looking forward to seeing some government supporters defending Surapong's lie that the letter indicates a "certain boycot". Further, when was the last time a letter from the EU indicated that the US would do anything whatsoever?

Thailand was never much on the world stage before for anything constructive but even less on the world stage now bye bye Thailand.

My friend fab4 will be mightily disappointed that this Surapong said that referendums and elections can be held during the imposition of the Martial Law.

Still that comprehension of the English Language problem rubl? You may recall that it was you who said that elections held under martial law would be undemocratic.

At least I assume we will not have elections under the martial law. That's considered somewhat 'undemocratic', you know.

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/727651-thai-govt-proposes-new-poll-on-3-aug/page-2#entry7854086

I merely pointed out to you as a staunch defender of the 2007 constitution that the constitution was also voted for whilst under martial law and by using your standards that vote must also be undemocratic.

Trying to spin it any other way is not going to work rubl no matter how many times you attempt to do so.

If an election held under martial law allows the Electorate to vote freely without intimidation by the PDRC "peaceful" supporters or blockading of polling stations etc, I am OK with that.

My guess is Surapong expected he could keep this letter secret, and that he was unaware official letters from the EU are made public by the EU.

Another lesson for a man who probably cannot find the EU (or Thailand) on a map biggrin.png

cheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gifcheesy.gif

The whole world is laughing, we ALL know, no more pointless FACE to save,

to bloody h****ll with Election-Collection, under such treacherous corruption-polluted system aka propaganda-brain-washed vote-buying and rigorous threatening vote-blackmailing-terrorization.

Don't give me that primitive crap with Election-Collection solution of ThaksinDEMOcracy....

There NEVER was a fair election in Thailand EVER...

"There NEVER was a fair election in Thailand EVER..." Hence the need for reforms before the election. The result my still be well short of perfection, but will take us a few steps closer to fairness. It wouldn't take many steps to surpass the fairness of the United Sates elections, that is for sure.

I refused to comment on the referendum for the constitution, I only commented on the modified constitution.I did say that the Junta appointed government lifted the Martial Law in the remaining provinces in time for the General Election as critics complained that having the ML still in place and having soldiers around might intimidate voters.

Now we have a socalled democratic, elected government wanting to have elections or even a referendum with the Martial Law in place and having the Army around the polling booths. AND you are OK with that.

What was that about spinning you said?

"Under Sharia law, the following is considered criminal behaviour, punishable by fines, jail, amputation of limbs, public flogging or death by stoning: absence from Friday prayer services; becoming pregnant out of wedlock; wearing indecent clothing, and for women, refusal to wear a hijab; employing a non-Muslim babysitter; the use of the word “Allah” by Christians and the discussion of faith by any non-Muslims; publicly eating or drinking during Ramadan; theft; homosexuality; and adultery."

"The Sultan of Brunei, recently announced the implementation of Sharia law in his tiny South Asian nation." Newsone, 'The sex-obsessed world of Brunei'.

No country has commented or impossed sanctions on Brunei for the change of law.

No sanctions for Thailand; sounds as though there are Godfathers. Some countries can get away with anything so long as they have the money and trade connections. Good smokescreen also helps.

Surapong is having a last go, brave man?

Caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul said he received a signal from the European Union (EU) that it might boycott Thailand if the next general election is delayed in the country

It not even worth writing too many words about these announcements anymore, except to say Surapong stop lying...no they will not....your talking poop

The EU don't really care...

I am waiting with great anticipation for his next announcement, that if Thailand doesn't hold elections soon, the Martians of the great galactic empire are going to invade the earth...
